It isn't just that they believed that their run would last forever. That is normal fanbase delusion. Tater fans will tell you with a straight face that their program falling apart is some grand strategy that Dabo is masterminding. That is just delusional. They made Dabo Swinney insanely rich. Like so many people, Dabo can't handle it. Dabo thinks he is the smartest person in every room and can't tolerate anyone questioning him. Assistants start bailing and he cannot bring himself to follow his own trail to success by going out and finding the best and brightest to replace them. Instead he makes buddy hires and "keeps it in the family". Fun to watch.
