It’s wild that the home team is 1-8 in this series, Auburn in 2018 being the only home team win.

My theory is that players, coaches, and even fans fall into a false sense of security because they think “we’re at home, we got this”. Meanwhile the away team puts in more focus and work because they feel they have to. Both of our fan bases don’t take this game very seriously compared to say Bama/LSU for example

Since expansion A&M has won in JHS 4 times. Alabama has only won 1 game at JHS in that same period. This is a weird series. Both home environments are hard to play in but it doesn’t seem to matter in this series.

I think it has more to do with inept coaching on both sides.

It’ll be a good game. I think the Vegas line is accurate. It would be a push in Jordan-Hare. A&M’s defense is the best unit on the field for both teams by a considerable margin, but Bo Nix is playing well.

what a dumb take

Atm and Auburn second and third in scoring defense in the SEC respectively. What a fricking wide margin that is

not to mention Auburn has a better rushing offense, rushing defense and passing offense.

By the stats Auburn is better by almost every measure

Lets put some stats to those numbers.

Total D: A&M - 28th; Aub - 52nd
Rush D: A&M - 38th; Aub - 36th (less than 1 yard per game difference)
Pass D: A&M - 31st; Aub - 69th
Socring D: A&M - 4th; Aub - 23rd
SP+ DEF: A&M - 7th; Aub - 16th

Neither Auburn or A&M is all that good offensively. So, yeah, A&M's defense is the "best unit".

Both teams play solid defense.

Both teams are somewhat hamstrung on offense, but capable of having a big day.

Both teams have pretty good special teams despite Auburn's recent performance with Ole Miss.

I think A&M has an edge with with better overall talent and depth, but Auburn certainly has the edge with a more experienced QB.

Should be a great game.

A&M is new to the SEC. Most of Auburn's rivalries were years in the making or took some "scandal" (Cam Newton/Miss State) to create hate in. They're both land grant schools, both have had to play second fiddle to a big, overpowered state school, both are more interested in the bigger conference fish on their schedule.

It sort of reminds me of how the LSU series felt to me prior to the earthquake game, records not withstanding.

Let’s just compare the offensive stats too for fun:

Total O: Aub - 28th; A&M - 70th
Rush O: Aub - 41st; A&M - 47th
Pass O: Aub - 52nd; A&M - 94th
Scoring O: Aub - 25th; A&M - 59th
FEI Off: Aub - 18th; A&M - 50th

“Neither Auburn or A&M is all that good offensively.” Looking at these stats, it appears that you are trying to group Auburn’s offense in with A&M’s and the stats just don’t back that up. Much bigger gaps between the Auburn and A&M offense, than the A&M and Auburn defense.

Meh. The stats are pretty misleading for both teams as both teams are playing much better right now than they were earlier in the season. If Colorado/Arkie/State Calzada and OLine shows up A&M is screwed, if the Bama version shows up A&M wins comfortably. Auburn racked up some gaudy stats in the Akron and Alabama State games as well which is all well and good but don't really mean much.

Auburn is very good all around. Nix is a dangerous and experienced QB that scares me. The D is physical and talented.

I don't think the weird road game phenomenon means much, just a strange coincidence. I know that I sure as hell would rather play this game at Kyle and JH and I think the biggest edge A&M has besides that is they are coming off a much needed bye week while Auburn had to play a tough game against Ole Miss.

Going to be a great game either way.

Lolz. A&M’s defense was the only unit to score a touchdown for either team.

Looks like A&M’s was the best side of the ball for either team.
