It explains why there has only been 1 swap of teams in the last 10 years of the playoffs that hasn't matched the Simulated BCS, including this year (2023 - BCS had FSU in and Texas out, CFPC had Texas in and FSU out).

It also explains why they have no idea how to rationally explain the rankings and just spout random data points week to week. They are copying whatever the BCS says, but they can't say that out loud, so they try to just say buzz words each week and it ends up contradicting itself over and over.

Interesting if true. And ironic because I heard some talk from sports commentators so the old BCS calculations should be used as an objective means of selecting playoff teams.

I think it's just a simple matter of it being damn near impossible to frick up most years when it was only 4 teams.

I've never once watched a selection show because it's always been obvious who was going.

12 teams with a committee is too much drama and bias.

What about last year, with the FSU/Texas/Alabama debate?

100% agree.. with one small tweak

They use the BCS to get the teams into buckets/groups.. and then they tweak the teams within that group..

ie this week
1-4 same teams, same seeds
5-6 same teams, different order
7-12 same teams, same seeds

Last week was the same method, just a little bit different.
1-5 same teams, same seeds
6-7 same teams, different order
8-10 same teams, different order
11-13 same teams, same seeds

eta: They also use this to adjust for H2H wins.. ie. Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina.. but only if teams are in the same bucket..

last year, my guess is
1-2 kept the same
3-5 same teams, different order based on H2H between Bama and Texas

Nonetheless I prefer it over 4 teams. There was plenty of teeth-gnashing last season too with Georgia and FSU being left out.

This is an improvement. (Not so) Baby steps first.

Everyone knew FSU would get wrecked without their qb.

FSU didn't belong even with their starting QB if people are being honest.

They weren't even a top10 team in power metrics.

. I do not remember this much dispute in the four-team era. The Big 12 thinks it is on an even footing with the P2, which may quicken the breakaway.

Agree - good point. Think you are very right about that.

I agree, but they did everything right, theoretically: creamed LSU, won out.

Dude, you are such a little bitch.

Today you sit here with conceit like you know what’s going to happen.

When just y’day you were asserting the exact opposite:

“It's hard to know what path anyone will have because the teams may remain mostly the same, but the rankings will likely shuffle after this weekend.”

…before you cowardly backed out of a bet and threat-bombed a thread before logging off tRant

Y’day you were a coward.

Today you’re a coward a bitch.

The CFB playoff rankings being released for weeks before the end of the regular season gives fans and media plenty to debate about. I think this is an intentional feature of it and do not take it seriously at all. Only the final rankings matter just like in previous years with only 4 participants and they are still subjectively based like before.

100% correct. Frankly, if they are going to do it that way, they should not have the committee chair talk on any of them except the last one.

All the games haven't been played yet dumbass. Unless you know the results of this weekends game, you do not know what order the final rankings will be. Thus you will not know what the matchups will be until after this weekends games.
