You mean the statutes that were put up by the Daughters of Confederacy to celebrate white supremacy decades after the Civil War ended? It’s not tearing down statues of history; it’s tearing down statues of propaganda. Moron.

Typically statues aren't erected of historical figures while they're still alive. The Jefferson memorial wasn't erected until the 1930s, for instance. The Robert E. Lee statue in Richmond that was recently removed, was commissioned shortly after his death in 1870. His former soldiers are who led the charge for getting it done.

They've dumped rivalries before, they'll do it again.

Can we please not call them pods? NFL has 4 team groups and they call them divisions. Let’s do the same please

So it’s common practice to erect statues for traitors 30 years after they lost?

I hear ya baw I can understand why a fan of none of these teams would care, but if its that important to one side of the perspectives, shouldn't matter in some way? The alternative is 16 teams that have no historical depth with regards to their combined traditions.

Disagree....what plagues us is the entitlement in this country.

The feeling that someone is entitled to something just because it is "important" to them and that everyone else must conform to their feelings.

It's common practice to erect statues of historical figures 30 years (or more) later, yes. There's also a statue of George Washington still standing in Trafalgar Square in London. He was a "traitor" to England as much as anyone in the Confederacy was to the United States.

it does matter to me, an LSU fan, just not enough to negate a schedule that makes sense. Hell, i had to get used to Tx A/M in the conference, the fans of Ala, Tn, Auburn and Ga can surely adjust. If a game is important enough to be a rivalry to the participants, why should it matter that sometimes it doesn't count in the conference standings. it supposedly stands on its own. let it.

Yeah, when your goal is to remind black people of their place in the social hierarchy when fighting back against the edicts that arose from Reconstruction.
