ETA- you put your "jumbo" personnel out there, defense subs in theirs, then two of your "jumbo"s line up out wide with every bit of speed as any WR, but up against slower jumbo defenders, it's a success. If the defense keeps their regular package out there, then you motion those guys back in for mismatches. Mismatches one way or the other, a rare luxury that is basically unheard of. But all those guys have to stay healthy. As soon as you start to lose depth in the TE room, much of that fantasy comes crashing down.
I get the concept. My point is that Georgia isn't building their entire offensive identity around it. It will be a sub-package and most likely used against opponents that are vulnerable to this, such as a team that likes to sub out of base.

Of course not. But its a strong arse package. And will be used. And will be successful.
And I bet Kirby pulls it out to mindfrick Dan.

You do realize that from a schematic standpoint, the PAC - 12 North has a lot of teams that run a lot of jumbo packages, right? UW, Oregon State, Cal and Stanford all love TEs.
The talent is the straw the stirs the drink obviously. However, the PAC - 12 North has had its fair share of TEs in the draft. That's not where we lack talent.
It's not like Oregon is going to go out there and say, "oh, no, there's three TEs. What will we ever do?"

You are correct in some aspects, but incorrect about LSU not supporting Gilbert. The young man has some mental issues that I really hope he can keep under control with meds.
Arik Gilbert is a beast and has SO much God-given talent. If he can get his issues under control, he can be the best TE/receiver in the country(including GA’s current outstanding TE.
I wish him the best.

I’m not sure you know quite what they have at the position

Bowers is from Napa, CA and Washington came out of Nevada. I am quite aware of what they're capable of. Both of these kids were players Oregon chased on the trail.
I watched Gilbert's spring game and I turn on the TV and watch the SEC on Saturdays. I also travel to Atlanta quarterly for work and hear all about Georgia high school football from Dawg fans.
The conflict of having 3 TEs on the field from a schematic standpoint isn't novel to Oregon. The problem is Brock Bowers and the other two if they're available.

Why would I be arse hurt about taking your five star TE to supplement our two other 5 star tight ends?
Someone is definitely arse hurt here, but it's not me.

Outside of Washington, who else was a 5 star?

A lot of words to say he’s mentally fragile and quit on 2 teams. And please don’t act like transferring was an option for him. It would require him to sit a year putting him 3 years removed form being a 5* and no P5 would take a chance on him.
As it stands he’s 2 years removed from productive play, without a QB to feature him, and unless he moves to WR is going to rarely see the ball, just ask Washington who has seen 17 receptions in 2 years.

I hope the kid does well.
But I have my doubts.

Injuries to Washington kept him off the field. As I said earlier in this thread, the injury fairy follows him around. If he puts a full season together without missing time, he's a beast and you know it. It has nothing to do with the coaching or scheme or QB. If it did, why did Bowers have such a great year for a TE? Oh it's you, Smokeyone, go frick yourself.

Is Washington full-go for camp? He sure was big boy coming out of high school.

He has been practicing and healthy so far.

I believe you missed the UF part of his journey. I hope the young man does well, has success and gets a degree.

He kind of wanted to play at LSU still. His momma wanted him home.
It's also worth mentioning that a big reason Arik came to LSU was because of Joe Brady.

That's good to hear. I want to see Gilbert and Washington have a successful season as a college football fan. I wouldn't mind if they dropped some passes against Oregon though.

So started 13 games, played in 16… has 17 total receptions. Obviously injuries have kept him off the field….

He had an academic waiver to play at LSU last year, but still chose to transfer and sit out a year to fix his grades and play at Georgia.
He went through camp at UGA and had another breakdown and quit the team. This “work on grades story doesn’t add up
