The only good thing IMO that has come out of it is now we can all pay our players. Bc in the old days, some schools got penalized harshly for doing things other schools did on the reg. The NCAA was very selective on who they decided to punish.

Many of you have trolled other fanbases regarding portal entries, not sure why y'all are now mad that it's your turn.
You said bama fans loved the transfer portal. Now you’re saying some bama fans liked to use the portal as an opportunity to troll other fanbases. You realized what you said was dumb and inaccurate, so you’ve shifted your argument. I, for one, will give you credit for trying to correct your obvious initial error.

It could be a good thing but it needs rules to cut down the craziness. Players should be allowed to transfer but things like entering the portal forces you to transfer so they can't use it as a cash grab. Limit the number of transfers. There are more rules to help.

but it just makes being a fan hard.
It's really caused me to rethink how passionate I am about college sports. It's basically an annual one year free agency for every player on every team. You have to recruit other players as well as your own players to stay.

The transfer portal is about the free market. The transfer portal is about capitalism. The transfer portal represents the best of America.
Anyone upset about this is a communist. If you hate the transfer portal, you need to move to North Korea with AOC and Hillary. Go start up a communist college football league and enjoy yourselves.

Both of these can be true, by the way.

For everyone that hits it seems 2 don't. With the portal it seems to be hit or miss. Not saying we havent got starters from the portal but saying they were any good is a different story.

This thread isn’t about LSU’s recent success with transfers, but a thread pointing out that Bama fans are just now lamenting the transfer portal because they are getting poached

Do you think anyone feels sorry for Bama or their fans? We are laughing and rejoicing!

Also some highly successful players are essentially processed at their original school. Not just Daniels and Burrow. Cam Newton became the object of a bidding war between Auburn and MSU after he rehabilitated from Florida letting him go.
This type of move by players isn't really new. For example years ago people might remember Troy Aikman being highly drafted out of UCLA but might have forgotten about his earlier stint with Oklahoma.
Obviously it is different from a fan perspective when the player leaves because he likes another program (or their coach or NIL) more. And I agree we are in a different place publicly when the bags are more public and transfers are more frequent. But this is less of a categorical difference than a matter of degree.

Except it’s not. There are not many players who contribute and are good that transfer more than once. Just like players look to transfer coaches are always looking to upgrade. The portal goes both ways.

Last year, we lost a D-line starter to FSU because of NIL and the Portal.
This year, the same player returns to SC.
Go figure.

What would happen if every player on a college football team decided to transfer within 30 days of a coach leaving or retiring? I know that would probably never happen but the fact that it’s even possible is not only absurd and stupid but it’s extremely disturbing. The thought of every player on a football team is eligible to leave their current school without penalty if that teams coach leaves or retires just shows you how out of balance the whole system is and it needs to be fixed fast. It’s doesn’t really take the whole team leaving to damage and harm the future of any college football program.
This system punishes the school and the players that decides to stay after a coaching change and it’s not right. It really encourages other schools to just come in and pick someone else’s roster clean and break the rules doing it. College football is the best sport out of them all easily imo. If the NCAA does not start fixing the problems with NIL and the portal I do not know how long college football remains the best sport.
