They had a better offense in the same conference last year as Clemson and we boat raced them and I'd bet big money on us boat racing Clemson as well.

What it has ended is Alabama's and Georgia's ability to pay players while siccing the NCAA on anyone else who tries the same.
Georgia has managed so far to navigate the new landscape.

There are at least 2 SEC programs at the moment who, were they to go undefeated and win a Natty this year, would shock anyone. UGA and LSU. Texas could very well win out and win the Natty and not shock anyone. Even Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, Florida and South Carolina could easily make a run and be playoff teams and all but South Carolina would not shock anyone by winning it all this season. And then there is Oklahoma. If any of these teams other than South Carolina were to lose 2 games and manage to win a natty it would not be shocking. If you could take those 9 teams against the field right now to win the natty you'd be on the side of smart money. Not that it will happen but the SEC is still stacked deeper with more talent and better coaching than any other conference. The Big 10 is the closest and there are 2 teams who could win a natty that would not be shocking, Ohio State and Oregon. Michigan could slip in and it would only be mildly shocking. USC, UCLA and Washington would all be MAJOR surprises. The portal has made a HUGE difference but the SEC is still the most competitive conference in college football and it ain't close....
