One big difference is that the SEC values all their members, and each one has a vote. Alabama wanted to go to 9 conference games, the rest did not, so it got voted down. If that had happened in the Big 12, and Texas wanted it, they would have bullied everybody until it happened.

Most of y'all are missing the point. Look, Alabama has been ultra successful under Saban and that has been good for the SEC and other SEC members. It's also natural for the league to want to maximize that success. A side effect of this, however, is a perceived bias that creeps in when it comes to scheduling, officiating, and other league decisions. It's absolutely necessary for teams like LSU to push back on this to help prevent the SEC from becoming too focused on one or two teams like the Big XII did. The SEC needs to recognize this and put some checks and balances in place.

But Bama didn't even win the SEC last year- UGA did. There is parity within the league.
The SEC office can't control the bias of the committee.

LSU does not in any way consider Bama a rival. You usually have some respect for a rival. We have no respect for the type of program you run.

The feeling is mutual, and that is probably for the best, LSU could never be as successful as Alabama in football.

Ah, yes. The old “winning isn’t nearly as important to us as doing things the right way,” argument, where it is simply taken as given that Alabama only wins because they cheat and LSU and Auburn et al would be better programs if the field were only truly level. The ultimate resort of a beaten and hopeless fanbase.
