And everyone else in the SEC will find out just how thoroughly Texas and their fan base are full of themselves. Aggie and Missouri fans already know the full extent. And they'll never stop boasting even after being chopped off at the knees, like the Black Knight in Monty Python & the Holy Grail. It can be comical to watch when they try to spin bad losses.
Good point.

I'm sure no other school that has ever been to the college football playoff has ever been proud of their accomplishments, right?

I think aggies and missouri fans are ever-so-quick to warn people of the big bad boogeyman Texas because their experience has been constantly losing to the longhorns when they play them

The one consistent thing I see parroted here is the idea that winning one or two games against an SEC team (like we did against Bama this year) is one thing, but try winning when you have to play an SEC team week in and week out.

Where does this narrative come from? Because it sounds like wishcasting and a coping mechanism for the 75% of SEC schools who consistently suck and need an explanation for why they can’t put together a sustainable winning run, and it sounds like the last gasp hope of the forever middling teams who will immediately be leapfrogged in respect and competitiveness by Texas and OU’s entry to the conference.

In short; why do teams like A&M and Mizzou and Miss St and UK and Tenn and Auburn love the “SEC is a gauntlet” mythos?

It is that Texas and Oklahoma haven't played in the SEC to know what is going to hit both Texas and Oklahoma hard to get the feel of the SEC. It will take a year or two to gel.

Arkansas being 2-6 in conference is not sniffing a championship

And yet in our last two meetings do you know that Texas managed to lose to us by a combined total of 43 points?

My honest assessment of the SEC (pre Texas and OU) based on observation only, it consists of 4 teams in no particular order
Bama
Georgia
LSU
Whichever team has their shite together on a particular year, sometimes this includes Florida, sometimes another team like Ole Miss sneaks in.

Beyond that I don't see any of the others as being particularly more scary to play than a group of hyper-motivated and pissed off they didn't get a Texas/bloU offer 3 stars coached by someone who knows all they have to do is win this one game and their seat suddenly cools off...and in some cases that is enough to propel them to a higher profile job. So yeah, it will be refreshing having other big dogs in the conference so Ole Miss, SCar, Miss State etc can't spend all their time and energy on one single game every year.

Thats exactly where you’re wrong. The SEC is a really solid football conference that ALSO has 1-3 semi-professional teams on any given year.

One decent year, that thus far has included only one quality win, and they forget all about the last two times they played Arkansas. And those weren't particularly good Arkansas teams but a curb stomping def. describes the last meeting.

The breathless desperation that is clinging on to dated and obviously irrelevant stats (I mean, anyone with eyeballs knows that if we played this year, you would lose) is giving legacy Big12 vibes, bigly.

Longhorns: Meet your new bottom-half-of-the-conference nobodies, same as the old ones.

No desperation; based on the most recent results we just blew y’all out. You might as well embrace it.

All hope is not lost: by moving to a superior conference your stock should eventually be raised as well.

I see. Okay sure, then, I’ll play. Arkansas beat us when we were very bad and almost assuredly at a nadir in our storied program history, from which we’ve obviously rebounded from as a Top 4 college playoff participant this year.

By the way, that’s what storied programs are supposed to do when they inevitably fall from a peak, they are supposed to rebuild and retool to find those heights again. Someone ought to tell Arkansas this because they are like the hot girl (60’s-‘90?)who got married and just completely gave up on herself (90’s-modernity) and is morbidly obese (your fat coach is a great reflection of the hoi polloi). Have some self- respect.

But regardless yes you did win the last two times. Hang on to those fond memories.

#1 This is the SEC, the n00bs get hazed till they win stuff

#2 OU and Utx may think some games are "gimmies" like Iowa State and you just do not appreciate Starkville till you have been there. Just remember Auburn 3 - State 2.

56-23 lol it’s not really even a rivalry but that record. I pretty sure that this point Rkansas would rather watch the Polar Express than play Texas.

More NCAA bowling hardware than baseball hardware. Just don't park in the library parking lot on game day, those Indian and Asian nerds are pretty territorial.

Indians (dot type, not feather)

vs

Asians (Japan in the past but more Chinese lately)

Upside is some good local food joints popped up to serve these groups
