Ok but bama and OKSU played the same number of games. Without a conference championship game it doesn't mean anything. Their resume is no better because they did not beat anybody else. A non-conference champion with the exact same schedule and results is equal in my eyes

You betas would much rather have played the weaker team that lost to Iowa State (a 6-6 team). That's sad.

Okie State had literally choked away a game to an Iowa State team that finished with seven losses in the second to last game of the season.

Not to mention that they then blamed their loss on one of their kids dying that day or that week. I remember thinking, wow did they literally just blame a loss on someone dying and that's why they weren't prepared? Classy!

Let's be honest... if LSU had played Okie State like they played against Alabama, they would have lost... badly... and the SEC mystique would have been diminished.

LSU looked bad in the Alabama NC game ... I mean BAD, and not all of it was the absolute dominant Alabama defense. LSU had a truly lousy game plan, all those bubble screens and attempts to get to the edge. The only player on the field for LSU that looked like he was trying was Jefferson. Even though he was often running for his life, plays were called allowing him to throw down-field only seven times. The LSU defense played well enough, but the honey badger was exposed. Alabama threw right at him and Norwood caught five passes over the top of TM.

Given the lethargy and poor game plan, I think Okie State might have embarrassed LSU... which I'm thankful didn't happen.

The image that will stand out to me until the day I die is Jarret Lee in his spottlessly clean jersey standing on the sideline.

So disappointed in L6U fans 6 pages and no mention of, Holding, REC, SEC office in Birmingham

Here we are, 5 years later, and LSU fans are still whining about how "Alabama didn't deserve to be there". Boo hoo, what you drew too tough of a match-up in the national championship game? LSU got absolutely throttled on the game's biggest stage. "but, but we should have been playing OK state " I seem to remember a bunch of LSU fans talking about how they were glad they'd get to beat Alabama again, of course that was before 1/9/12

The game was on turf. His jersey would still be pretty clean, but he never had a good game against Alabama.

Ok The SEC had nothing to do with Saban being highlighted during the SEC Championship Game. A game in which his team was not participating

That would be ESPN or whoever broadcasted the game. And why wouldn't they try to get one of the best coaches that wasn't doing anything that day? A coach that knew both teams pretty well.

LSU played a very similar game, too. The only difference? Alabama's kickers (Jeremy Shelley in particular) made their field goals the second time around.

False. Difference was, Saban was prepared for Les' terrible game plan in the championship game when he wasnt prepared to defend the option in the first matchup. Your kicker could have missed every kick in the title game and Bama still would have won.

The option didn't really do that much in the 1st game.

All the talk you guys do about beating LSU lately, even you would want nothing to do with a rematch the same season.

It won us the game. Put us in FG range multiple times where J Lee would have never gotten us. Especially in OT. Clearly you didnt watch this game. The option was the only reason LSU won that game.

You got in field goal range exactly twice in regulation. Only one of those was an actual drive down the field. The other was a pick returned to the 20-yard line.

I'm a little disappointed the video wasn't trimmed to a 21:00 runtime.

McCarron threw the ball a grand total of six more times in the national championship game as opposed to the first game in Bryant-Denny. The difference? He completed the passes the second go around.

Nothing here contradicts what I said. Bama threw the ball more and threw it early. They also executed magnificently. This allowed them to pound the rock as the game wore on since they already had a lead. Saban came out loose and opened the offense while LSU entered with the EXACT same gameplan with a very easily defensible Jordan Jefferson option package. It was unimaginative and laughable to think Saban hadn't prepared his team to shut that down with ease.

LSU had no backup plan. None. And Jefferson played like hot shite, which was predictable because he looked like hot shite against Georgia too.

It doesn't take anything away from Bama's win that night to point out that LSU's coaching and entire game plan was fricking embarrassing.

If you swap the coaches out between those two teams there's no chance the score is 21-0. It's embarrassing and pathetic and I felt bad for the players because that team was more than capable of playing with Alabama.
