This is just dumb. Of course people debate over who the eventual champion will be. Most get it wrong. That is the whole point of the hundreds of thousands of March Madness brackets filled out every year. I feel a debate with you is pointless.

Does this hurt so bad because FSU is more respected nationally than LSU?

Yep. Considering the number of times USC, Bama, Notre Dame and alike have gotten favored over the years. It's time for this system to go. Can't wait to see it gone.
You do realize that this is all Auburn’s fault right? Auburn could have squashed this on the field. If only they had stopped Alabama on 4th and 31. They didn’t. And here we are. Because of that, not some back room deal.
And there will always be favoritism based on past performance.
People with higher credit scores get better interest rates. Students with higher GPAs and higher ACT/SAT scores get into better schools and get more grants/scholarships. Baseball players with higher batting averages and home run totals get paid more money. Wide receivers and running backs with more yards and touchdowns get paid more money. People without criminal backgrounds have an easier time getting jobs than those with a rap sheet of past felonies. Football programs that have proven they can win at the highest level get the benefit of the doubt over those that haven’t.
Like it or not, people make decisions every day based on past performance. You not liking that will not change it.

The ramification of the decision is something that was already in place: we are going from a 4-team playoff to a 12-team playoff.
With four spots to give out, and there not being a whole lot of separation among the P5 conference champions, it was inevitable that whoever was left out was going to be able to make a case that they should have been included. Next year, it’s moot.
Not moot at all. The 12 team playoff is not gonna be some panacea that takes the power away from the committee. And it’s not about the 13th or 14th teams that get left out. It will be about seeding. Instead of a FSU getting a deserving bye—a HUGE advantage—they’ll send them to Athena to play a road game against Georgia. Seeding is still going to give the committee more power than they should be afforded.

True, but I bet if we had 12 teams this year FSU would have been 4.

The ramifications of the decision to join the ACC over the SEC finally came home to roost.

problem is already solved next year. this is more of a victory lap of the severely outdated previous system.

Maybe this particular problem, but new ones will inevitably emerge.

LSU fans are acting delusional, it’s so sad

I could imagine what an uproar it would be if LSU was in Bama’s place right now. It would be a 180 degree turnaround and FS should have played somebody to get into position. The hysteria and hypocrisy is endless.

I can't wait for a D1 football playoff.
Me too. The bluebloods are going to exert their dominance more than ever before.
If you had the 12 team playoff for Saban's entire tenure, Alabama would be on their 12th straight trip and would have made 14 out of the last 15 - and that's assuming they didn't get a low seed invite in 2010.

if you are a school without a storied history, you have little chance of ever making it to a title run
TCU
Boise State
Cincinnati
Auburn
You get the point.
Auburn has a storied history with the NCAA. Several undefeated seasons, couple National Titles, and three Heismans.
Auburn and LSU are the only other teams in the West recently who have been to ATL besides Bama

And the football championship won't be won on the field by pne of those four teams? Don't be a fricking idiot idiot. 4 teams or 64 teams...they're all chosen by a brokered deal by a committee.
How the frick do you think those teams get in? Why the hell does 10-10 Penn State get in, 8th best in their conference, but not 11-7 Vandy, 6th best in theirs?
Because of a fricking committee that you claim doesn't exist.

You call that crumbs?
Yep.
That statement alone proves that you're either intellectually dishonest or hopelessly stupid.

Thought about this a lot lately. The Bowl process, the BCS, and the CFP are all reiterations of the same thing: all star selection at the local ball park.
You realize FSU got in over Miami during the BCS after Miami beat them head to head.
Maybe this is karma for FSU.

TCU. Beat. Michigan. In. The. Playoff.
Yes, that Michigan. The team with 1,000 wins.
