Yup. Trying to get the stats right now after I finish melting. Gimme a sec

Antoine had a really shitty weekend. Of course, that matches the team's weekend overall.

Yea but Dups has a particularly bad one. Texas pitches around him hardcore and he is gonna have to get used to that if he wants to stay in the race

Should be a great race between them. Both great talents

Who do you guys think will have the SEC career hit title at the end of the season and how many for each?

We currently have:
Jake Mangum : 348
Antoine Duplantis : 321
Looks like the answer will be Mangum unless something drastically changes.

Well yes probably, but when this thread was started they were less than 5 apart I think. I still think that if Dups can get it below 20 before sec tourney, and MSST crashes and burns in the off-season, and LSU goes far, it is definitely possible

That’s definitely plausible. This race is not over.

Idk man, it's pretty much over. Even if State crashes and burns in a regional and LSU makes it all the way to the championship series in Omaha, we're talking about a maximum of 2 more regional games (assuming State goes 2&Q which is highly unlikely and LSU loses a game as well but still wins the regional), 3 super regional games, and 8 CWS games assuming LSU comes through the losers bracket and plays all 3 in a championship series. Then I guess you can include the SECT, but Duplantis could only play, at most, 4 more games than Mangum. So in the most ideal of circumstances for Duplantis and the worst of circumstances for Mangum, he could, at most, play 17 more games that Mangum. He gained a little ground last weekend, but he's still 27 hits behind Mangum currently with just 14 regular season games left.
It isn't completely over, but I'd give Mangum about a 99% chance of not being caught.
BTW, does anyone have a link to that graph someone has been posting, or is that something he's just created and updated himself?

I also think there's a decent chance that once Mangum breaks it, his numbers will pick back up. He's been in a bit of a slump lately and seems like he's pressing hard since he's so close.
Dropped something like 35 points in batting average over the last two weeks.

Part of me thinks one of the reasons Duplantis uncharacteristically struggled this year was due to the chase and him pressing. It's weird because ever since the gap so big, Duplantis has seemingly figured some things out and has been hitting like the hitter he's been the last 3 years. We'll see if that continues. Mangum surely will break out of this mini-slump, and if the record is what's causing a dip, he's so close now that it shouldn't be too long before he's past that.

I think MSST is definitely more backloaded in terms of pitching they have to face on the schedule, so I would expect Duplantis to outhit Mangum the rest of the regular season, but I have no idea by how much. However, maybe with Hancock out Georgia won’t quite be themselves.

Thanks fatboy. Sorry about the hiatus but feel free to post the graph here after weekend bumps

First of all congrats to Jake on an incredible college career and on breaking one of the best records in the book.
Mangum: 355
Dups: 323
I’m not saying it’s necessarily over but Dups needs to pick it up and fast. Bama was the team to do it against and he just didn’t get the hits he needed to.
