The only thing I've learned this year is that gambling on college football is pointless.

Late to the party? Gambling on sports has been a pointless endeavor since like forever. Point-shaving scandals have been a thing for decades.

This is how it will be for a long time. Teams will, at best, be good 2 deep. There is no more stacking of talent 3+ deep. So, I wouldn't bet on college football whatsoever henceforth. This is exactly what TV people wanted. Everyone can win, and dynasties are over. You can't live the fan experience of continued domination for doing the right things. You will never feel what it feels like to be the truly feared team again... because a MUCH larger number of teams will be able to beat anyone, any week.

Gambling is a tax on people that are bad at math....

So that there is more parity this year than in the past is a bad thing?

We learned much about a century ago in college football, and acted appropriately back then. We are now where we were then when POTUS and Congress had to threatened to intervene. In the meantime all those safeguards have been slowly removed and we are right back to where we were

I mean, it was at least a century ago with Shoeless Joe.

You sure you want to knock the Gen Z retirement plan?

Teams are all about the same level of talent. Home-field advantage is definitely a big advantage now.

They have and the existed in eras when some entity was minding the store and gambling was illegal. It’s going to get worse given the current atmosphere in gambling. I don’t think any sport is safe from corruption without regulation and gambling as widespread as it is today. It’s certainly happening…it’s naive to pretend otherwise. We saw a team this year make a serious effort to roster a degenerate gambler in CFB. It’s happening and going to get worse.

Years ago I was at a conference and Bobby Bowden talked about everything that goes into getting all the people within a football program to perform their best in one week. He said the best coaches get that 2-3 times a year at best.
People bet on sports expecting the same effort/execution they’ve seen last week or in recent weeks.

That was the pros
College had issues with
Super Conferences - SIAA / SoCon, biggest at the time
Media Deals - Radio back then, and print
Paying Players - Smaller numbers, same thing
Gambling - NIT to NCCA was Rupps doing because of the mob and MSQ
Etc
Etc

Well if you are like me you have done pretty good.I have played against teams this season coming off big emotional wins.OM,FLA,MISSOU,GEO TENN have all lost after emotional games. The only one I lost was Kentucky after the beat LSU.Took UTSA +points vs TEX,won,FLA VS OM won ,MISSOU VS FLA won,USCe vs TENN won etc.People bet to much with emotion and think because a team looked great the week b4 they will be the same the next week. Most college teams only get up emotionally for 3or 4 games all season, you have to take into account who has the emotional advantage especially with the portal and NIL.
