How can they not do a couple quick Internet searches, and realize that Aggy was getting ready to let him go?

got to give Ross props. He was going to be unemployed July 1st after his contract ran out. Ohio State could have gotten him for minimum wage if they had waited.

A&M please come and take Scott Stricklin from us.

This is probably the best thing that's happened to A&M for Johnny Football won the Heisman.

This is horrible news for the SEC

Didn't take a genius to hire Schloss considering how many times he kicked our arse.

You obviously don't know much about the SEC. That guy has always been an idiot.

His contract was up in May. It was not going to be renewed.

I was hoping for a different reaction from A&M fans, this is the first place I looked once he was hired.

It’s like stealing the trash bag off the curb just before it’s thrown in the garbage truck. Lol..tOSU picking up the idiot that the Aggies should have fired years ago. Got to give it to Bjork though…he knows when to haul arse…he is a job hopping fool.

Get a load at this:
I went to an Ohio State forum to see their reactions, check this one out. They hired Bjork to fundraise NIL?
quote:
”Few athletics directors have established such an impressive and strong record of success in athletics, in the classroom and throughout the community,” Ohio State president Ted Carter said in a news release. “The bar is incredibly high at Ohio State, and we have found in Ross a highly intelligent and effective leader – not to mention a fierce competitor.”

My initial reaction was strongly negative. But if you look at his reputation as a fund raiser and the way TAMU was throwing money around and - well, that is what CFB is about today. It appears the staff is going after kids that they can't land because of $$. If that is all a kid is after IMO they are potential problems. But if a quality kid is just living in the real world (and who can blame them) and Bjork can remove the financial barrier it makes Day's job much easier.

Ole Miss told you guys, bur you were so excited to steal him away. Now you can't wait to get rid of him.

College athletics is a shite show. In the real world this guy would have been demoted to burger flipper by now.

I posted this when rhe rumor of Bjork to Tosu began.
Bjork must be like Will Ferrell in the debate scene from Old School during any interviews. It is the only explanation that makes sense.

Of course he was hired by tOSU only for his involvement with NIL money. He doesn’t even deny it. As recently as Dec 2023 in Sports Illustrated he was touting NIL. I’m curious where tOSU thinks he had “impressive and strong record of success in athletics.” I must have missed that. He spent the hell out of Aggie money and had little to show for it. The upgrading of the facilities was all planned and financed, mostly under Scott Woodward’s stewardship. This was before Bjork ever showed up. Bjork was heavily involved in the creation of the Aggie NIL dealings that almost cost the historical 12 man foundation and its donors their tax exempt status with the IRS. Bjork attempted to provide direct payments to players from the university rather than marketing opportunities through the university. He skated on thin ice with the NCAA and the IRS. According to the CBS report…”Bjork’s athletic department attempted to reward donors with athletic dept points (used for seats, tickets, boxes, etc) and tax benefits to provide compensation to athletes.” He was not hired at all for his track record of success in anything except shaking the money tree. The question is…will tOSU alums spend the money on NIL.

quote:I believe that Bjork's contract expires next year (maybe July 1?), so we weren't going to spend money on another buyout if we didn't have to. Bjork did not have a free hand on the football coach issue. He did instigate the firing, making a presentation to the Board of Regents showing the financial details if we had to pay the buyout still made it feasible to make a move. Based on his recommendation, the Board approved the firing. Then, he led the search, but when he came back with Mark Stoops as his suggested hire, he was told to try again.
How in the holy hell was he not fired either before or right after Jimbo?
This just proves my suspicion he didnt have any real power at aggy and the Suckeyes know this and hired him based on his pre-aggy resume.
It's not terribly dissimilar to how Deloss Dodds was treated when looking to hire a replacement for John Mackovic. Deloss had made up his mind that Gary Barnett was the top man for the job, but Tom Hicks and Red McCombs insisted that he interview Mack Brown.
As to why Ohio State hired him, there probably aren't any AD's at big schools that have total freedom to run their department when it comes to football, and the ones closest to that aren't likely to leave. So, OSU decided he was the tallest midget.
