The Offense, NOT CHAVIS, Cost LSU Most of Those Close Games!

I've seen it pointed out repeatedly that Chavis's defense couldn't get a stop late in the 4th or has given up several costly drives at the ends of halves, which resulted in several of LSU's recent losses.
The games fans point out are 2012/2014 Alabama, Clemson, 2013 UGA, 2013 Ole Miss, and Notre Dame.
With the exception of 2013 UGA, LSU's offense had trouble driving down the field and scoring touchdowns.
2012 Alabama: 3 points in the first half, 17 total
Clemson: Struggled to run the ball, spotted 14 points, only scored 24
Ole Miss: Shutout in the first half, 3 picks by Mett
2014 Alabama: Less than 80 yards passing, 13 points scored (3 off a short field)
Notre Dame: 28 points scored, 3 on explosive plays (100-yd KO return, 79 yard pass, 89 yard run).
The average of the unrefined scores from these 5 games is 21.2 points per game, which is unacceptable given LSU's resources.
LSU's offense should be good enough to cover for the defense those few times that Chavis's defense doesn't hold the opponent under 3 touchdowns.
LSU can't always count on winning a low scoring game.
On another note, Chavis's defense kept LSU in all of the 2009 losses, both 2010 losses, both 2012 losses, 2013 Ole Miss, 2014 Arkansas, and the Notre Dame game (believe it or not). The Mississippi State and Auburn games would have been more competitive if LSU's offense had kept their defense off the field. Not only will a defense get physically tired from being on the field against an uptempo or physical offense for most of a half or game, the defense might also get psychologically tired if they determine that their offense won't give them much if any help.
I don't have enough room to detail all the games that Chavis's defenses have won or helped win for LSU. The number is far greater than the number of games LSU's offense has won in the past 6 seasons.
No one should expect one's defense to play a complete 4 quarter game if the offense isn't held to the same standard. Both are essential to consistently fielding a championship caliber team.

Lol no. In those games the opponent had the ball and needed to drive the field to win and did, a lot of times with ease.

Losing Chavis is huge..especially to a rival school. Alleva letting this happen is absolutely laughable.

Exactly. Chavis would've had to have held whatever offense he was playing to under 21 points for them to win the game in most of these loses.
With the way offenses are scoring these days, it's not reasonable to expect that.

but with LSU's underpreforming offense, these games wouldn't have been close at the end of the game if LSU's D hadn't been paying well up to that point.

The LACK of Confidence in the offense cost lsu most of those games. Mett was on fire against Bama in 2012 and yet Les takes the ball out of his hands on 4th down and run wildcat with spencer ware.
Lack of confidence today to make 2 yards at the goal line with LF is mind boggling. Him not even getting a touch is even more mind boggling.

You're completely dimissing the other teams defense. Saying LSUs offense should never struggle is laughable. The bottom line is Chavis was handed the lead in those games and told to do what he's paid the big money to do and he failed.

Here's a very telling stat...Logan Stokes' TD catch with 5:07 remaining against Ole Miss was LSU's last 4th quarter TD of the season...on OCTOBER 25th

Les Miles and his various offensive coordinators during Chavis's tenure were paid millions to make decisions that wouldn't put LSU in situations where the defense would be pressured. It's way past time for the LSU offense to take the lead and do its fair share instead of putting pressure on the defense all the time.

long story short, when You have a lead, and there is 2 minutes, the game is in your hands.
I can't think of a real close game where Chavis actually stopped a team int he 2 minute drill.

And how many of those times did we have the ball with very little time left on the clock and failed to pick up a 1st down to seal the W and keep the D off the field?
It's embarassing when opponents fans realize how important Chavis is to our success, while some of our fans actually want him gone. What a joke.
