Eh, they had business losing to us. We'd just dispatched arguably a better team in the NLCS in the Dodgers in 6.

For the first time in 50 years the Braves were the team that got hot in the playoffs and could do no wrong. We'd always been on the other side of that for what seemed like forever.

And I was sitting in the stadium for that 10 run 1st inning. In a long line of Braves disappointments that was the first time I considered, in the words of Job's wife, "cursing God and dying" . Made my 2 little girls sit there for all 9 innings and told them one day we'd win it all and they'd appreciate that torture.

I got to take them to game 3 of the WS last year and they got it. Can't say I truly expected the "it paid off" moment to come that soon (or ever )

But hey, I'm sure your collection of random 5'11 white guys

You mean this random 5'11" guy:

quote:

Goldschmidt is working on a season unlike even any of the ones he had in his days as an annual All-Star with the Arizona Diamondbacks between 2013 and 2018. His .343 average, .423 on-base percentage and 1.031 OPS are each tops among National League hitters, and he's on pace for over 200 hits and 30 home runs.

...and yeah, the Cardinals are so yesterday...

Paul Goldschmidt and the Cardinals Just Might Be the Most Exciting Team in MLB

You guys won it all last year ending a 26 year drought. Congrats it was a long time coming.

Your last WS appearance was 1999.

The Cardinals have been to the WS FOUR TIMES since then being crowned World Champs in two of those.

It's just silly to think Atlanta is anywhere near the club that St. Louis is. It is objectively just not true.

Like right now or historically? Clearly not historically. Nobody is besides the Yankees.

Right now, I mean, I feel pretty good about our roster and the next 5-10 years with Acuna, Riley, Albies, Olson, Harris, Dansby, Contreras, Max, Wright, Strider, Minter, etc to go along with an elite GM. But you never know. Pretty good core of guys under 30, though.

Damn you! You decide to get reasonable while I was typing my reply to your earlier dis and bring in your kids to boot

You got me with the kid thing. My 27-year-old son has been in the stadium for 3 World Series-clinching games with me (2 good, 1 bad) and a bunch of WS games. Pretty remarkable when you think about it.

Glad your girls got to experience the excitement of WS baseball!

Baseball is the greatest parent/kid sport that exists - especially for those of us lucky enough to be able to regularly attend games (we have season tickets).

I went to Game 5 of the 1992 World Series with my dad and it is still one of those "never forget" moments of my life. My girls are 7 and 10 and got to go to 3 of the playoff games last year, including the WS game. But you gotta sit through the bad to really savor the good, and as good lil Atlanta sports fans even their young minds qualified

Baseball is the best

My philosophy has always been I'm willing to spend whatever I can afford on memories over material things. As you say, you'll never forget that game with your dad. I'm not sure I could even tell you the car I owned during those WS games with my son.

We have season tickets as well but split 4 ways so sometimes I have to go to StubHub. I honestly can't tell you if I spent $1k or $2k for the tix to the 2011 clincher, but I can tell you it was worth it!

We do the exact same thing. 4 of us have 4 tickets that we divy up, which is great during the regular season but a little trickier come playoff time

So if you mean they suck because they knock you out of the post-season on a fairly consistent basis, I guess I'd have to agree with you.

Suck as in owning the Braves in the postseason?

The Cardinal have 11 World Series titles. The Braves have 4. Enough said.

I always liked y’all until you ruined your uniforms.

Please go back to the Toney Galbreath era uniforms and I will like you again.
