Auburn (15) was a higher seed than Bama (16). But then they gave Bama a better region.
Bruce will take us to the final 4 this year. Uconn got screwed.

They will expand the tournament..watch! some schools got absolutely hosed this weekend and for smaller schools that's a lot of money to miss

Well, you don’t seem to understand the fact that a conference tournament doesn’t mean shite when it’s been said multiple times before you won it.
In 2019 we entered the conference tournament as a 5, won the tournament and stayed a 5. We know this. I reminded Aubs of this last week. Lunardi was the fricker telling the tv we would be a 3 and people bought it.

And at the end of the day, that retort is 100% true.
Nobody is denying that. If its Auburn's year we will blow through the competition just like when we dusted up North Carolina, Kansas, and Kentucky. If its not, its not and we will lose.

Auburn isn't a blue blood. Neither is Tennessee. It's as simple as that.
The OP started out this thread pointing out that he thought UConn was getting screwed by the number of quality teams in their region compared to other #1 seeds.
I think most people agree that UConn has reached blue blood status.

I don't understand why we have NET Rankings.
North Carolina - 8 NET, 4 Overall Seed
Auburn - 5 NET, 15 Overall Seed
South Carolina - 51 NET, 24 Overall Seed
Washington State - 44 NET, 26 Overall Seed
New Mexico - 22 NET, 42 Overall Seed

I am confused by the "pod" system, if it is even called that any more.
For example, Auburn, UAB, Alabama, Yale, and Charleston are in the East region and Eastern time zone (makes sense); however, they play their first round games in Spokane, WA. Another example is Kansas, which is in the Midwest region (makes sense), but plays their first round game in Salt Lake City, when the Midwest region has a "pod" in Indianapolis and Memphis also hosts early round games.
Having attended sparsely-attended first-round and second-round games in the past, I just do not understand the logic. Fans (especially students) will drive relatively short distances to watch early games, but how many are going to fly across the country? From experience I will tell you, not many.
Further, I would rather have a lower seed in a region closer to home than to have a slightly higher seed across the country. I know the West is traditionally weak and needs teams to travel, but proximity should count for something, and since you have to beat everybody to win the tournament, having a slightly tougher game is hardly a punishment.
Just my two cents' worth. Don't forget to get your change.

The Big East is the second best conference in the country based off Kenpom rankings and they only got 3 teams. That is just insanity.

How does Auburn get seeded as a 4 seed after steamrolling three NCAA tournament teams on a neutral court?
Strength of schedule. You avoided playing the top teams in the SEC twice, outside of Alabama. You feasted on the bottom half of the SEC. Meanwhile your non-conference schedule was laughable, and you still lost your only big NC game (Baylor), plus one to a cream puff in App St.
Even your SEC tournament run featured only one game against a top team in South Carolina. Florida lost a starter in the first minutes of the championship game.
Auburn is really good, but a 4 seed is where you belong. Had you lost to MSU or Florida, you would probably be a 5 seed, or maybe even a 6 (like South Carolina, for many of the same reasons).

Show your work, please. Maybe I'm stretching with a 6, but had MSU pulled it off, they would certainly be a 5 seed right now.

Simply I have seen very little focus and movement based on the tournament for any team, up and down, unless the teams were on the bubble.

Being in the 2024 Maui Classic will help front load some quad 1 games next season.
We played Indiana this year, but they were not good. We dropped a game to Baylor.
St Louis and Notre Dame were not good.
St Bonaventure was ok. Same with Va Tech
So Cal sucked.
Schedules are made well in advance. Unless you get in Battle for Atlantis or Maui Classic it’s hard to guarantee a quad 1 slate.

Maybe UT should focus first on how to “own” Mississippi State.
Your a-hole must still be enflamed from that raping in Nashville.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Auburn didn't really have to play any of the other top 3 seeds in the SEC tournament. Yeah, they won the tournament, but MSU upset UT, A&M upset Kentucky, and Florida upset Alabama. AU dominated most of their opponents, but they didn't have to face anyone tough outside of Florida.

I agree. And I long for the day where cameras/sensors/AI replace refs.

I thought this year's SECT was going to be a little wild because of so many teams dominating at home but not so much on the road vs. decent opponents.
quote:State and USC are tough teams Auburn beat in the tourney as well. You might want to check a NCAAT bracket and see that those teams got at large bids to the big dance.

Arizona went 5-2 vs. tournament teams in their OOC games.
Auburn went 0-1 vs. tournament teams in their OOC games.
Auburn SOS propped up by SEC. Arizona's SOS is dragged down by the P12.
It's as simple as that. I'm not saying Arizona is better than Auburn. I'm saying they're seeded correctly based on their body of work.

Everything you said is true. It doesn't change anything I've said. It actually supports it.
