ITT people have no fricking clue how IP law in America works. The one person presenting. The correct argument is getting downvoted to hell

You have to zealously protect all your copyrights and trademarks or else your claim to such IP weakens. Anything suggesting or evoking the exact phrase March Madness is in potential violation of the NCAA’s IP rights.

Also, frick the NCAA

The University of Louisville once sued a high school football team in the state of Kentucky over their helmets that used the same Cardinal logo. Kentucky went after a bourbon distillery for selling a line of blue T-shirts with block KENTUCKY on the front. The NCAA and its members don't play when it comes to money.

Alabama once sued a bakery for using the script A but later apologized and worked out an arrangement with her they probably asked her to contribute a few bucks every year to use the logo. You have to protect it or you lose it

You do realize that "March Madness" is trademarked by the NCAA, and as the owner of a trademark you're required to monitor the use of anything similar to your trademark, and protect it by filing these types of suits? If you fail to do so, you can lose the trademark.

So, yeah, this is not only normal, but is actually required by the USPTO.
