Sorry I just can't put any team that almost lost to a horrible Texas team on the "best ever list". They were a great team but not top 4 all time. Not even close.

You listed 2001 Miami, that beat a 3-loss Va Tech by TWO POINTS despite getting 5 turnovers.

Those two teams were incredible but honestly the 2019 LSU team is the best I have ever seen. At the end of the season they were on a different level.

Miami had some close calls, and I think that’s the year Nebraska had the 5 downs wasn’t it. Although they were a machine at the end.

But you can’t really compare teams from different eras

Exactly. You get it.

95 Neb is the best team I've ever seen because they were the most dominant. Obviously that team couldn't compete with the athletes today. I rank them based on how dominant they were, to my own eyes, in the era in which they played.
I remember that 95 season well. I remember Florida and SEC fans talking shite about Neb "not playing anyone" only to see that nebraska buzzsaw just humiliate Florida and that was a good Florida team.

as one poster said they were definitely roided up. If you want to disqualify them from the discussion because of that I can get on board.

This is very much true in a sense. However, we can compare how dominant they were compared to the other teams in their era.

That's why any Mt Rushmore of all time college football teams has to start with Army 1945.

Army beat Wake Forest, 54–0
No. 1 Army beat No. 9 Michigan, 28–7
No. 1 Army beat Melville PT Boats 55–13
No. 1 Army beat No. 19 Duke 48–13
No. 1 Army beat Villanova, 54–0

No. 1 Army (6–0–0) and No. 2 Notre Dame (5–0–1) met for a showdown at Yankee Stadium, and it was no contest, with the Cadets winning 48–0

No. 1 Army beat No. 6 Penn, 61–0

In the second No. 1 and No. 2 matchup of the year, No. 1 Army (8–0–0) and No. 2 Navy (7–0–1) met at the Army–Navy Game in Philadelphia, with Army winning 32–13

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The most dominating team that ever existed. There isn't a close second. Two Heisman winners on the same team. Coming off an undefeated national championship in 1944. Also went undefeated in 1946.

Dominated the two teams ranked #2 plus the #9, #6 and #19 teams by massive margins.

You can't make a legit list of the best all time college teams and leave out Army's 1945 team.

I don't think it's a fair argument though because of the circumstances. All the service teams during WWII were kicking everyone's asses because players that normally would have been at regular universities were drafted into service and then put on said teams. They were essentially college All-Star teams.

It's the greatest team ever assembled. It definitely wasn't fair however, agreed.

Still, how can you make a list of all time best college teams and not include the greatest team ever assembled?

Nothing will ever compare to Army 1945.

Recency bias much? Or are you just 13?

This. Not to mention that the 2020 Alabama team had a larger average margin of victory than any team on there other than 2018 Clemson and did it against a regular season schedule that included only SEC teams (i.e. without the usual 2 or 3 non-conference cupcakes), Florida in the SEC title game, and then Notre Dame and Ohio State in the CF playoff

Uses time of game rankings and pretends Texas was a top10 team.

And lists a bunch of awards, most of which didn't even exist until recently.

If you had a real argument you wouldn't need to use fake stats.
