There are very few things in life you have complete control over. But attitude and effort are two of them. They can determine the trajectory of your life, choose wisely.

There was just a news story on our local news about State Farm Insurance ripping somebody off...

I remember we had a kid who had wrecked his car in HS...

The coach asked him who is insurance company was.... Kid said "State Farm".... And the coach said... "Well... your neighbor will fix that car before State Farm ever will."

I never bought insurance from State Farm based on that wisecrack... so that might have been the most valuable thing a coach ever told me.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

You have two ears and two eyes, but only one mouth. Use them in that proportion.

“You can’t play feetball without your donut”. The thing in the helmet. I could not stop laughing. He made me run laps.

Faster horses, younger women, older whisky, more money.

Or was that Tom T Hall. Whatever, it works.

My defensive line coach said, “You have deceptive speed”.

I said, “oh yeah?”

He said, “Yeah. You’re a lot slower than you look out there”
