Now McGregor's attorney has filed papers to get all 17 charges dropped against him because he think the statute doesnt apply to him. Get these charges off to clear the way for more.

What is the REC? I keep seeing it, I can't make out what it is, and I'll probably feel stupid for not knowing it once y'all tell me.
Thank you for asking that. I was wondering the same thing.

I hadn't thought of chips, but when I saw that McGregor/Victoryland Dog Track (and other gambling interests) MIGHT be involved... I thought, what a clever way to disburse cash...

Clever indeed... unless your phones are tapped.

again... surely much ado about nothing... thought this kinda stuff only in LA. Greed seems global... coonasses...rednecks... whatever.

50 bucks and a walmart tshirt saying "Got 13?" can get you in the Red Elephant Club. The people with the influence and money to frick Auburn if they want to are not in the REC. It is just an easy thing for Barner's to blame all of their problems on.

Even if you or your friend is completely making that up, that is a pretty creative way of hiding a money trail

I believe Texas fans alleged that is how we got Russell Shepard (and others) here (casino chips).

In fact, (and as much as this would disappoint all of us),it is entirely possible that no University, including Auburn, ever offered money nor paid any money. We know for a fact that Cecil was shopping Cam

But thats the crux.

Cam was shopped. The NCAA in released statements has said that is now considered a violation, whether money exchanged hands or not.

MSU reported the shopping. Once Auburn was aware, either before the season, or most certainly before the Ga game, it was their obligation to sit him and then ask for reinstatement.

They did not.

The NCAA will make an example of this case, in order to prevent future parents from doing the same. No better way to get your point across than to take a swipe at a BCS/ Heisman prospect. This case WILL ESTABLISH THE PRECEDENT

the thought that AU Compliance knowingly/willfully violated NCAA guidelines by allowing Newton to play the season is just absurd.... it would be career suicide for any involved.

I agree, and that is why the sanctions will be more along the lines of what Alabama went through as opposed to colossal end of the world stuff. Without proof of an actual payment, we are not talking about death penalty or kicked out of the conference or anything of that nature.

You really are clueless about the history of your beloved Auburn in the last ten years, aren't you.

Forget NCAA probation. That's nothing. You have at least two of your current trustees, Bobby Lowder and Byron Franklin, who were major reasons why Auburn got their accreditation put on probation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The fact that Lowder and Franklin are still allowed on campus is glaring testimony of how stupid the people running Auburn really are. NCAA death penalty? That's nothing. How about if students can't get federally funded student loans to go to Auburn? How about if Auburn can't get an other federal funding? How about if Auburn grads can't get into grad school, med school, nursing school, dental school, pharmacy school, law school, etc., etc?

Bobby Lowder is a crook who cost you, me, and the rest of the posters on this board $3.7 billion. Don't be so silly as to suggest that your compliance department has the balls to do anything. Hell, Pat Dye can't even change his Depends without Bobby Lowder's permission.
