I cannot stress this enough. Y’all act like if this is a close game both teams will get in. No. You cite Bama back dooring their way into the playoffs in 2017. That was a fluke outcome that cannot and will not happen every year. Bama’s competition that year, a two loss Ohio st., had a terrible loss against an unranked opponent. And they still almost made it in over a one loss Bama. A one loss Big 12 and PAC 12 champion will definitely get in over an 11-1 Bama/LSU team that did not win its conference. Saturday is a playoff elimination game.

I agree. Barring a 2011 type ending to a season Bama isn’t getting in with a loss.

I think that LSU will still get in with a close loss, because:

* The game is in Tuscaloosa
* LSU has a tougher schedule and beat Texas and Florida

I think that Alabama can still make it in with a loss, but they will need help.

LSU still has a shot but would need Alabama/Auburn/Florida to finish strong, and Texas to rebound a bit.

Alabama would need a lot to happen.

Ehh....it's that time of year where any and everyone can lose. I mean, Arkansas will always have a soft spot in my heart for converting a 4th and 25. Same for Iowa St and stunning as a 35 pt dog. Bama or LSU have to be ready to take advantage of that opening if (when) it occurs. Geez....Bama could beat LsU and MSU then lose to AU and UGa in the SECCG and then watch both UGA and LSU makeb the playoff because OreSt beat Ore and OK loses in the Big12 game

LSU absolutely has a shot at 11-1.

Alabama? None.

I don’t know - winner of this game wins out, in
Then you have penn state Osu - and whoever is undefeated between those two.
So two of your top 4 have a loss - opens the door for Clemson. Who gets that 4th nod?
Let’s say ou wins out - they have one loss
LSU loses - one loss
Bama loses to uga in sec championship

Then what do you do? That would be what - 5 maybe 6 1 loss top ten teams all clamoring for the last spot? Each one has valid arguments why they should, and arguments why they shouldn’t. For example - LSU is 1 loss team, yet we beat at the time 3 top ten teams- but- loss to one of the 1 loss teams your competing against for that spot. Or uga - wins sec, has one loss - but lost to a team not even ranked.

This really has the makings of a serious clusterfrick.

You are speaking in a lot of certainties with a month left of games to go

If LSU loses a close game they’ll absolutely still have a great shot of getting in.

If Baylor wins the conference and has one loss, you think they would be ahead of either LSU or Bama?

Not a chance in hell. Even if you look at lsu’s wins. Texas sucks, Florida is a two loss team now. Auburn will drop another game at least, maybe two. LSU doesn’t have any quality wins without beating Bama.

Your wrong! The CFP committee putting you guys at #6 allows them to put LSU ahead of you if a close loss. So if everything holds chalk from there Clemson moves up to 4 and LSU slides in at 5. Then let’s say PSU loses to OSU they drop below LSU and LSU slides into the 4 spot. Where the difficulty would come in is if OSU loses to PSU in a close game do they drop to 4 and stay ahead of LSU.

Now Bama on the other hand in a close loss might drop one spot behind UGA because they will not have a win like UF on their resume so they might be in a different position than LSU but again if everything holds chalk then they sneak into 4 when UGA loses in the SEC championship game
