The Harsin story

Long read. Some interesting tidbits. TL/DR version: AU is fricked up, AD Greene fricked it up more, and President Gogue fricked it up even more.
AU247
In early December of 2020, Auburn athletics director Allen Greene was not happy. Gus Malzahn, who he supported, had been fired after eight seasons. Greene was not in on the decision or even consulted. His only role was to tell Malzahn he had been fired. Not surprisingly, Greene didn’t like that.
The deal had been done between president Jay Gogue and a handful of trustees. Gogue had agreed to a plan that included firing Malzahn the day after the final game of the season and naming defensive coordinator Kevin Steele head coach. The entire Board of Trustees was set to approve. All seemed to be going according to plan when Malzahn was fired on Sunday morning. But things soon changed.
Malzahn, the coach just fired, argued vehemently against hiring Steele. Why the opinion of the fired head coach mattered or was even heard is one of the more bizarre parts of a bizarre time. Greene told Gogue it would look bad if the athletics director was not allowed to hire the next coach.
And thus began the chain of events that led to Bryan Harsin being named Auburn’s head coach.

After ALL that, What experienced P5 HC wouldn’t want to jump in feet first and be a part of “The Family”?
Location, location, location. Money galore, top facilities, rabid fan support, location.

The best part is still how Auburn boosters believe Kevin Steele is some kind of sorcerer who can vanquish the Saban dynasty.

you can bet that Malzahn was in Derek Mason's ear all 2021 to coax Mason into causing trouble
that's how sociopath Malzahn operates

That article was written by Phillip Marshall and he left out a lot of things. Only after two years is he trying to explain what happen. If you had ever read that site you would know that they admit that all those on that list had an interview. He claims that the "advisory committee" was mostly for show but most people know he was FOS. Marshall and Sanders were very close to Steele and pushed very hard that he was the only choice, but many at Auburn know that was not the case. Many BOTs and PTB did not want Steele and that is why there was a committee. That just doesn't fit Marshalls Narrative. The fact that Gus has a say in the issue should tell you everything about Phillips story.

After a 6-2 start in 2021, Auburn lost its last six to finish 6-7.

You forgot the part about Kiffin tripping over himself to dive headfirst into the aftermath of all this and to begin rebuilding the program.
