In the 1980’s and most of those were 9-3 years. Other than that they’ve been about as consistent as any program. They’ve only had 13 losing seasons and their most losses in a season (7) happened twice. Ohio State is the only program in D1 football history that has never lost 8 games in a season. Fun fact.

That is very good, but at no time in the 80's was Ohio State a threat to win the NC. The Big Ten was getting their backsides handed to them by the PAC10 in the Rose Bowl, and I think that only Iowa before expansion had a winning bowl record (that still may be true)

Arkansas seems too low.

A&M seems too high, considering we were basically The Citadel for 30+6 years. (Only really became a handicap after WWII, when big state schools took over.)

The ncaa was taken to court over it, and lost. A businessman in Gadsden sued the ncaa, and when he won, a gag order was placed on him. Schools can not sue the ncaa but private citizens can. I know of another case as well, same thing happened I actually do not know a case where the ncaa was taken to court that the ncaa won, and I am taking about all over the country.

That was with the Gene Jelks issue and not the Albert Means. That case exposed Bama from an occasional violator of the rules to a school that had system in place for years to pay recruits. There was a reason why Bama due the NCAA over it and it wasn't because they were pussies.

It was not the Jelks case. It was at the same time as the Means case, where the ncaa threw out a wide web to see what they could get.

The problem is that a lot of it was made up (more then you realize) and that was proven in court (of course the gag order protected the ncaa)

Since the ncaa is a "voluntary" organization, if a school is unhappy they "can" leave but then the school has no program because nobody will schedule them.

Only thing in Gadsden after the Jelks issues where when a Bama Attorney hired Bama recruits and ones mother to work for him. That never went to court and the NCAA barely looked at it. The REC was big in Gadsden when they had a few to players, I hear it is non-existent now.

Wrong again, it was about a business man in Gadsden, but hey it is water under the bridge, and it led to Coach Saban coming to Alabama.

Any type of metric that displays Georgia at 10 is delusional.

You haven’t won a title in 40 years.

If I was making a list of most UNDERACHIEVING programs, you’d be at the top.

Was it a clothing store business ? If not please post a link or a name, because otherwise you are getting some poor information.

Don't buy USC at #1, they're on the list but not #1. Heisman trophies are over-rated.

And conference championships shouldn't mean squat on an all-time list.

CFDW had a good ranking comprised of points for win %, SOS, recognized national titles, and major bowl wins.

Alabama was #1. Then LSU/UT/UG/UF/AU were all grouped together.

Yes. And good solid info. There is not much separating much of the big six

I know the Big 8 was really the Big 2 for decades. I get it. But I thought the Big 10 would have been a wee bit more spread out.

The Big 10 was started in 1896, the Big 8 was started in 1907.

Michigan has 14 pre-1932 conference titles.
Nebraska has 16 pre-1932 conference titles.

Alabama doesn't hold a single SIAA conference championship, and only 4 Southern championships. So, Alabama wasn't really racking up conference championships pre-1932.

ESPN did a decent one a couple of years ago.

1. Alabama
9. LSU
11. Florida, Georgia
15. Tennessee
16. Auburn
20. Texas A&M
25. Arkansas
32. Ole Miss
43. Mississippi State
49. Missouri, South Carolina
79. Vanderbilt

What does this mean for Minnesota? Are they a top ten program? Sure are using your logic.

ESPN really pussed out on that one. They had Bama, ND, USC, OU, and tOSU tied at number one.

Clemson has 3 titles and has won the most conference titles in its P5 conference even despite FSU's long period of dominance in the ACC.

how many programs can say that.

most of the so called blue bloods won a bunch of titles in the segregation era and poll era, with no conference title games and playoff games.
