27 SEC titles and 4 SoCon titles that were voted on by local newspapers.
Officially, OU has won 46. Same with Nebraska.
Michigan has 42 Big 10 titles.
OSU has 39 officially.
USC has 37 officially.
Don't give a frick about Tulsa.
OU claims 48 but there was no Southwest champ in 1918 and their 1972 Big 8 title was forfeited.

One could, but it would be just a microcosm of the overall pictured analysis of what the researchers were trying to accomplish.
All the polls are opinionated, not unbiased at all (even consensus). This includes the AP poll. However, they did include the category of # of weeks in the AP poll (which was only from 1936 and it was far from the only poll and didn't become a major poll until it was shared with the UPI beginning in the 1950's).
So, the results do reflect a bit of biased opinion amidst the other categories which are totally unbiased and unopinionated.
This study is not mine, btw. It belongs to the facts & figures specialists at Winsipedia.

Well, thanks for the numbers.
I know the Big 8 was really the Big 2 for decades. I get it. But I thought the Big 10 would have been a wee bit more spread out.
I suspect only having 8 teams really helped OK and N out.

A lot of those are co-titles too.

The state of education in Georgia has failed you if you think that. But it is funny you are still arguing it when presented with the facts....
But I will be fair...
Between USCw, Oklahoma and Alabama
Who has the most wins?
Who has the most national titles?
simple really....

It is a cute saying, but no team has. Saying it is one thing, trying it would have put several people in court, where they would have lost (or did you not know that the ncaa had to pay out huge sums of money?)

All-Time? Can't leave out the Ivy Leaguers who invented the game.
Princeton had 28 National Titles. Yale had 27.

He used a lot of useless information to make his point. Why not include which school is next to the biggest body of water or which school has more letters in their name?
I mean, using the number of Heisman winners and not the other award winner trophies (not that it means anything anyway, it is all political.)
He went a long way (or somebody did) to slant the information to what he (they) wanted it to be.
These are the really dumb points
*conference championships
*total bowl games
*bowl games record
*consensus All-Americans
*Heisman Trophy winners
*total number of NFL draft picks
*first-round NFL draft picks
*# of weeks in AP poll
*# of weeks at AP poll #1 spot

Link? Because every link I see says Ohio State is second in all-time wins.
These are lists of the best overall programs. Not who won the most championships. More than one factor goes into naming the best overall programs. All-time anyone that disagrees with Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma and Notre Dame for the top five in some order has blinders on. Michigan is resting on past laurels and frick Michigan. Miami, PSU, Nebraska and the others just don’t have the longevity or pedigree. Clemson is a rising star but like some others (FSU, Florida LSU, Georgia) don’t make the cuT because of periods of being average. This is over history. Clemson is certainly at the top over the past few years.

Followed the link, and frankly... I find it VERY hard to believe that Alabama ranks 7th in conference championships.
01 Oklahoma
02 Michigan
03 Nebraska
04 Ohio St
04 USC
06 Tulsa
So you have two major conferences where Oklahoma and Nebraska often split, similar for Michigan and Ohio St. USC I can believe, and Tulsa is a load of BS. I can maybe believe Michigan and Oklahoma due to the 30's/40's/50's and so forth.
But Alabama won a LOT of conference championships. I'd want to see some raw numbers.
Remember that Alabama, while winning the most National Titles, plays in a conference that averages 3 NC a decade. The SEC has 5 of the top 13 schools in all-time wins, no other conference comes close.
Just for fun, look at Oklahoma's 1956 National title winner, and look at the opponents records.

I would say Alabama, Oklahoma and USCw would top the list (for now) because Ohio State had a huge lull (but they are back.)
Michigan has become a has been (1948, and 1997 are their last two NC), and Notre Dame is a power in name only as they do not carry the star power they once did.
It also has to do with the power of the conferences as well. Alabama plays in a conference that averages 3 NC a decade, no other conference comes close to that.

In the 1980’s and most of those were 9-3 years. Other than that they’ve been about as consistent as any program. They’ve only had 13 losing seasons and their most losses in a season (7) happened twice. Ohio State is the only program in D1 football history that has never lost 8 games in a season. Fun fact.

Court would have required both sides to open their books. I think the NCAA was pretty confident with their case.

I have never claimed AU to be a blueblood program. In fact, there is nothing that separates UGA, LSU, UT, UF, and AU. Of all of those, AU has been the most consistent in the modern era.
If you agree that the programs are so close in accomplishments then why did you say this?
You so mad. I would be too if I pulled for a shite program like UGA. Good luck on not winning again this year
Seems you are saying something about your own program, does it not?
I don't think you will find anybody that will agree that Auburn has been consistent. On the contrary, Auburn is the antithesis of consistency. A string of 4-5 loss years interspersed with great years.

nice analysis but didn't teams used to play less games?
Yes.

If that is the case, looking at 10 plus seasons could be misleading.
Why? They all went from 11 games a year to 12 at the same time. They all had equal opportunities to win/lose more or less games.

probably better to look at the final poll rankings.

wow, Clemson has had 14 10+ seasons since 1968, right there with the top programs in the SEC.
Oh. So now you are on board with using 50 years as a benchmark?

Fun fact. Georgia has only lost 8 games once in their history. I'm not sure that's as wild and crazy statistic as you think it is.
BTW, I am in no way saying Georgia is in Ohio States class as a program, but just pointing out that never losing 8 games is probably not as much of a bragging point as you make it out to be. If Georgia only did it once, I am sure there are probably other programs that have, too....especially considering they only played 11 games until recently.

The ncaa was taken to court over it, and lost. A businessman in Gadsden sued the ncaa, and when he won, a gag order was placed on him. Schools can not sue the ncaa but private citizens can. I know of another case as well, same thing happened
I actually do not know a case where the ncaa was taken to court that the ncaa won, and I am taking about all over the country.
