They did this to mask firing a black head coach.
Same week.

Think about it.

Sarah wouldn't get trotted out to kick the tying FG in the LSU/Florida game because she cannot make that kick.

If she was put in a situation like that and made the kick then I would have nothing to say but congrats.

However she was put out there for some meaningless kicks in order to say that a female made an extra point.

The reasoning as to why she was put out there was because Vandy didn't have anyone else to do so Sarah stepped up. We know this to be a lie.

Mo Isom tried out to be a kicker for LSU. She didn't make it but if she did make the team and kick in a game I would respect that.

But that's my point...if they DID bring her out unproven in the LSU/UF game (hypothetically of course, since she's on Vandy) and whiffed badly, then yeah, the outrage would be justifiable.

It was a publicity stunt for a team at the bottom of the cellar in a strange year. I'm not gonna get too bent about it.

And endurance.

Women want equal pay...but why are professional women's tennis matches only the best of three sets instead of the best of five like the men?

Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in the 2019 Wimbledon finals 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 13-12 (7-3).

Simona Halep beat Serena Williams in the women's finals 6-2, 6-2.

Djokovic and Halep each made £2,350,000 for winning.

If Vandy had been down 21-19 to Tennessee, 0:05 left in the game, with the ball and 4th and goal on the Tennessee 5 yard line, Vandy would have had to put her out there to try the game-winning FG. That is the box they put themselves in. After building that whole narrative over the last couple of weeks, the PR damage to the entire university, not just the team, would have been devastating. They would have been telling the whole world that no, contrary to everything we've said the last two week, a woman can't do everything a man can do, and in the academic world of Vanderbilt University, that would have been absolutely devastating.

This is such a beta thread. She didn't take anyone's job or pioneer anything. It was a gimmick. Why are folks so threatened?

It was a cool little story for about 3 weeks in a shite year for CFB. It's over already, so get over it already.

of course, and i would probably lean to her making that kick

I was specifically talking about making the game tying kick in the LSU/Florida game. She would not make that kick. So if the it was a 40 yd kick instead of from the 5 Vandy (in your hypothetical) would of sent out Pierson to kick just like they did earlier in the game.

True. And that's why Alabama would have been screwed in any similar situation in 2012. Jeremy Shelley was perfect on PATs and short range FGs...69/69 and 11/11. But his longest was 38 yards. Cade Foster was only 50% or less from longer range, and had the one blocked and returned for a TD in the SECCG vs. Georgia.

per the tennis info - historically in women's tennis matches, the rallies last much longer, whereas the men's matches were quick serve and volley. so a 5 set women's match would have much much longer. I believe they even had stats that the women's matches hit the ball as much as men's matches.

Now days tennis has changed, the men have more rallies that in past eras. You also have much better level of competition in the upper ranks of women. However, you now have more tournaments, like the grand slams that are both men and women and people are there to see both. so no problem with equal pay there. The tournaments that are just for men have a higher payout.

Interestingly enough, through attendance and TV ratings, actually playing tennis, and therefore buying 80% of the tennis products, etc. women are the ones that basically pay for the sport. In the US, women subsidize the entire USTA. Probably the only sport where women are paying for the sport for men and women.

I can see that as the US doesn’t have any males that are at the top of professional tennis. Unlike the women’s side.

Yeah, Connors, McEnroe, and Agassi were great for popularizing the sport among American males.

I'm not doubting what you're saying, but would that have been pretty distant? The 2019 women's finals took 56 minutes. The men's finals took 4 hours and 57 minutes. I haven't found the times, but in 1992 the final between Agassi and Ivanisevic took 50 games in 5 sets. The women's between Seles and Graf took 15 games in two sets.

good mention of matches. The data I saw was an average dating back to the mid 1970s when the pro tour for women started. women used to play close to moon ball stuff that could go on forever!

the game absolutely has changed since those early days.

I'll add another point. Other than the grand slams, most of the men's tournaments are going to 3 sets. Too many injuries on tour now so they need to reduce the men from 5 sets to 3. The tour really is a grueling schedule. Really tough on those lower in the rankings trying to ike out a living while paying for traveling/training/coaches/etc.

I'm not so sure that happens. If they send her out and she misses then the fallout is much worse. She would go from the first female to play power 5 football to the first female to lose a game. I'm just not sure they would have the confidence in their stunt to put her out there to win the game. Granted if they go for it and lose then they get ripped as well for not giving her a shot. But I think if she goes out and misses it would ruin the whole story they built up. And then she would "retire" with her final play being missing a game winning chip shot where most of the country felt she shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Sarah Fuller accomplished more on the football field than you did.

Sarah Fuller demonstrated she was clearly unqualified to be a football kicker but was granted the opportunity because of her white privilege.

There are countless under privileged men of color who could out kick her just in Nashville alone but will never be granted the opportunity because they aren't white. Sad.

Also, like all women, she'll never have sex with you. Sorry.
