In Soviet Russia, maybe. Not in America.

He should just quit now. It's better for the program in the long run.
He is quickly undoing all of the great things he has done for SC. Hopefully he rights the ship so he can retire and go out in style.

A little surprised at the Gamecock fans saying Spurrier needs to leave after he saved your terrible program, but I guess anyone can pull out multiple consecutive eleven win seasons at Columbia.
All good things must come to an end. He is clearly doing damage right now. Hopefully he can set up some stability in the program before leaving.

Did those little bastards watch the 30 for 30 on Spurrier? Dudes a legend.

SC fans are so pissed it sounds like if they could sway kirby smart to be DC/HCIW they'd consider it a home run

Who will replace Spurrier in 2-3 years?
Supposedly Smart would be interested if the position was offered, but who knows how accurate those rumors would be. Probably about as accurate as the Muschamp is a done deal ones.

I watched it too. One thing that bothered me was his statement that he wanted his staff to be sure to be home to have dinner with their families. That's all fine and good, but I'd rather not worry about losing recruits/games because our staff was out worked.

It was in 1982. Don't know about today.

Almost. It was Alabama.

Spurrier could completely blow up that program and it would still be in better shape than when he came to USC. He has been the golden age of that program without ever really winning anything. That says much more about USC than Spurrier.

Yeah, yeah, but you knew what you were getting and he managed three eleven win seasons consecutively doing it that way. Y'all sure are some graceless and ungrateful bastards.
At some point we may face this issue with Coach Saban. If so, I hope that we handle it with more aplomb.

there were plenty of people complaining that that laid back attitude cost us at least one game a year that prevented us from making the SECCG.
Three years of 11 win seasons is great and all, but if this year's class implodes, we'll worse next year than we were this year. Ask Tennessee what happens when things start to fall apart and how long it takes to get it back.

Hell, you could ask Alabama or LSU the same thing if you go back 10-20 years. Difference is that UT, Bama, and LSU have the resources to eventually come back and rebuild to be a championship level program. SC doesn't.

No, a-hole. It is unprecedented. I hope you don't speak for the South Carolina fan base.

It's funny to me that people think SC should content to watch its program crumble to mediocrity out of gratefulness to the coach that gave them 3 good years.

I don't agree with that sentiment, SC should be out coach shopping right now.
