It is completely and utterly meaningless for the CFP. In truth, Alabama is better off throwing this game, getting through the rest of their disgustingly weak schedule, missing the extra meaningless game in Atlanta, then just getting ready for the only two games that matter at the end of the year.
This is what has become of college football as a result of this so-called "Playoff."
