The defense did its job overall

But Yaro is a joke. Defensive passing game coordinator? Yeesh. How in the hell did the strong safety get singled up outside with State's fastest WR? Greco did have a pick but there were more missed tackles and he let the play get behind him again on the go ahead TD. This is the SEC and the FS is expected to be a draft pick quality player (same goes for TE but that another discussion).

The worst was when the second level actually held up and State ran a RB/WR dump/ screen to the wide side ...
At one point, they did it for 3 plays in a row. Did Batoon/Yaro adjust? Nope. Then State did it again on their last drive. Always wide side, stretch.
But the last TD was the worst. Was talking to a State fan and said ... here comes a post/ slant TD. CB was in man and Greco for absolutely no reason at all starts towards middle pre snap, immediately bites on the RPO, eyes and body go towards who knows what, wide side single man and easy pitch/ catch TD.
Honestly, the biggest problem for this team after watching another game in person .... is all scheme and no adjustments. More so the offense than defense ...
Curt Cignetti won that Natty at Indiana on scheme, not talent ...

I don't know Nuke. Tackling was less than impressive. Felt like Bothwell got more than half his yards after missed first tackle attempts, and missed second attempts, and missed third attempts on some runs.
I'm worried both of FL's running backs might top 200 yards on us.

The defense forced 4 punts, 2 FGs, got a TO and held an offense that was averaging 47 ppg to 31 in their house. The offense was going to have to punch back. It didnt.

I'll give the staff credit for trying to run a Tunnel Screen to O when it was like 3rd and 6 ... problem was the execution was terrible. O got too far up field on his route, the other blocking receiver was blown up and the pass went incomplete because of the congestion
Tunnel Screens are usually NFL concepts that very few college teams execute very well (Chiefs tried one yesterday that got absolutely blown up in the same manner but ran another that went for 15+ yards) ...
What I am missing is where are the adjustments in the offense?
The first seam route was run in the 4th quarter ... I can't remember the last time I've seen this offense run a delayed RB/TE chip screen ...
We seem to run the same playbook every game, every single opponent ...
OZ, IZ, shallow cross, route(s) to boundary, etc.
It's no wonder Marquis Johnson left ... he just runs posts and go routes and let's Karmario showcase his best weapon (arm talent) throwing it up to speedy receivers ... the defense actually did an amazing job of making State work down the field, sustain drives, etc. Take away 3 bombs by Kamario and shitty safety play and Mizzou wins that game by 10 points ...

Its the same shitty calls every week. It lacks imagination and rarely attacks the true weakness of the defensive formation they are facing. It will be the same thing this weekend. The defense will keep them in the game and Drink will frick it up late. They'd be better off if they took his microphone off his headset and just let him listen and work the refs. He cant help himself. They legit should be basing out of 10 personnel. The TEs are a waste of space. Go four wide and get a defender out of the box. Fowlkes and Terry offer more in the pattern than Norfleet and Harris isnt blocking well enough to justify the number of reps he is getting. Drink is going to piss away the season "sticking to his guns".

From your mouth ... to Chip's ears ...
Rather see this than the bullshite they tried over and over again on Saturday night.

The TE insert play is worthless unless you build play action off it. Having the TE slip though the play side A gap and rip past the Mike would shred with the way teams are getting downhill right now. They are selling out to keep Roberts from hitting the secondary untouched. They would gain 20 yds at worst.
Yost would have murdered State with this roster.

That may have been the last attempt to O. Feels like Simmonds did not look for anyone other than Lee the last 2-3 series.

Surfer dude would have killed for the talent on Drinks roster.
I'll give Drink credit. Dude can sell and recruit. But he should get a Yost type and then we can talk playoffs ...
But never gonna happen ... in fact, at the end of the game on the jumbotron they played the "Shut up or I'll score again" as mizzou walked towards the locker room ...
Was pretty funny

Was absolutely gross in person.
Throwing into multiple double teams inside 10, down 7 ...

Same song second verse. I don’t blame Simmons. Drink seems to have tunnel vision. He gets fixated on same few plays and doesn’t mix it up. LY run hardy, qb draw or throw to sideline. James Franklin was a hell of a qb and well suited for today’s game. I doubt Franklin could have won that game with those play calls.

What defense were you expecting Miss St to play in the final minute ??
Is that the first time you have seen a desperate QB having to navigate this situation ??

You guys are remembering Yost much more fondly than I do. You are complaining about static, unimaginative play calling that does not adjust.
That is exactly what I remember about Yost. He could put together a good game plan. But, if that game plan did not work or the other team adjusted well, MU was toast.

And I am very confident no one else here cares about your opinion.
Yost cost us multiple games. One of Pinkel's worst weaknesses was loyalty to coaches that could not get the job done. Yost is exhibit A or B of several.

Id trust Yost to put a more competent product together, especially passing the ball, than anything we have seen in the last 7 years. His best offense had 6200 yds of total offense and 33 ppg with TJ Moe as the #1 guy.

well, when you put it that way...

I don't see a Yost-led offense doing that against SEC defenses.
And please don't think I am arguing against the grumbling of the current offensive coaching. I just saw many of the same problems in the Yost offenses that played against lesser defenses.
