LSU has a better defense IMO
definitely a better secondary. Stidham only completed 9 passes of 28. DBU
when Guice is healthy he's one of the best. But currently obviously Johnson is better.
Chark is better overall player than AU's WRs and special team guys.
Honestly, I'll say what I said on Thursday, or so- yall are just ok. Fairly talented, beat up a couple of bad teams, HS football HC, Art Briles QB that yall use so inefficiently.
Probably a top 5 SEC team, but that isn't saying much this year.

I don't know about all that, but I can promise you: If LSU had been able to "Get up" vs. Troy the way they did vs. AUB, You wouldn't be thinking dumb shite like that.
Be flattered it meant more to them to play you than it did to play Troy.
How the Hell do you get fired up to play frigging Troy?

I can think of a few ways;
1) It's one of only 12 games you are guaranteed to play this year.
2) If you think you have NFL aspirations, it's a game you have to show you can dominate as a player b/c you are supposed to be better than the guy across from you (regardless of what position you play).
3) Your coaching staff is likely trying to build on some things and plan for down the road, so you should be bought in and treat it as a chance to get better in advance of the bigger games coming down the road.
I can understand not being totally amped for Troy the way you might be for AU or Bama. You can use that as an excuse for a game that is closer than it should have been, but you can't use that for an excuse to lose.

quote:Again, in the OP you said "Steele isn't a second half coordinator."
And scored 14 in the first half and was able to sustain good field position in the second half. The LSU offense won the game. They had to to beat Auburn.
And yet LSU gained half as many yards, and scored less than half as many points, as they did in the first half.
And LSU's offense was outscored by AU's offense, even though AU was effectively shut down for the last 40 minutes of the game.
Your defense played lights out after the first quarter or so, thanks to some excellent in-game adjustments by Aranda (easily the best coach in the stadium). Of course it was aided by some pretty uninspired playcalling by AU. And Chark had a great game individually.
But the fact remains that LSU isn't a very good team, despite plenty of physical talent. Unfortunately neither is AU, so I guess that part of your point is valid.
Congrats again on the win. Good luck the rest of the way.

quote:Honestly, I don't know why it will take losing to UGA & Bama for him to get the boot. The PTB at Auburn should know by now that Gus is in over his head at Auburn.
P. Marshall said that a win over Georgia or Bama saves him. If he loses both he's done. Will you all be rooting against Auburn in these two match-ups?
So what if he gets a win over UGA/UA? He'll be right back up to his old ways immediately after - a Tiger can't change his stripes.
After 5 yrs on the job, he is who he is and his ego and pride won't let him change.

Might want to figure that out genius before you embarrass the conference again.

No shame in losing to a damn strong LSU team, on the road. Keep your heads up War Eagles.

I was willing to give him this season to see if his tendencies would change. He brought in an OC from outside his comfort zone, and broke his long-standing policy of not allowing private QB instruction, so there was some hope he was maturing as an HC.
Unfortunately, Clemson was a disaster, and there were signs that he was still reluctant to let go of the reigns on the offense, even though it was pretty clear that his influence on playcalling wasn't helping.
Most observant Boogs thought that the LSU game, despite their struggles, would be a good bellwether. I think it's now without a doubt that Gustav doesn't possess the qualities necessary to be a competent, successful major college HC, and with nearly 5 full years of opportunities, he's not likely to ever acquire said qualities.
Throw in a couple of major contributors suspended for drug use and the NCAA (and FBI) sniffing around the Athletic Dept and you can pretty much guess how this ends.
Of course we will probably stumble to an 8-5 type season again and our incompetent admins will find a reason to keep him another year. We will probably need another 2012-style total meltdown to finally force the powers that be to make a change. With the number of quality players we have leaving after this season, we'll probably get it in 2018.
And so it goes.

You goobs lost to Auburn last year and fired your coach. And you are preaching to us?

Except we've seen this movie before. The team starts out losing to Clemson in a close game, goes on a winning streak, gets in the top 10, then the wheels completely fall off and the coaches seem clueless. It literally happens every year. We don't pay someone millions to go 8-5 every year while shitting the bed against your two main rivals and playing poorly in a lower tier bowl game.

Nice post, with a caveat: Etling, Chark and Gage had the games of their careers...SO FAR.

The funny thing is that LSU fans think beating an overrated Auburn team means that LSU is good again. News flash: both teams suck and A&M is the 2nd best team in the West.
