I mean his life is already ruined. He'll likely never get a college degree (maybe a blessing though lol) and he will never get a decent job in the traditional way. It was a blacked out 19 year old trying to impress his fraternity friends-who made an idiotic mistake-but a mistake that ultimately produced zero victims. A lot of us here did things when we were 18/19 with our college buds that we are not proud of (granted, never anything as dumb or worse than that I hope).
Dude has paid the price and forever embarrassed himself, his family, and anyone that has ever befriended him. I'm sure he has bankrupted his poor parents with his lawyer fees alone. Making the Louisiana taxpayers fund him being in a cage for years seems counterproductive.
Just sad that he might go to prison longer than the rich kid who murdered the Auburn couple by somehow slamming his car while stoned at 90+mph in the middle of downtown Auburn at a 4 way traffic stop.

I agree. A night locked in a pillory on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras would be suffice punishment. Taxpayers should only have to fund the imprisonment of crimes where actual victims are involved.
