The Bobby Petrino motorcycle accident was a coverup

I have it on very good authority that Petrino was never involved in a motorcycle accident.
It was a coverup of the true events. The woman he was having an affair with had a boyfriend. Said boyfriend found out about the affair, tracked down Bobby, and gave him the arse-beating of a lifetime.
Take this for what it’s worth. But it’s as close to the horse’s mouth as you can get without getting bit.

A lot of people have thought this was the case for years, so much so that it is generally accepted that's what happened by most. And when I say years, I mean since the year it happened in 2012.
And this isn't even a rumor. This is why he resigned. He was having an affair with a staff member. And it was more than a boyfriend, she was engaged to the guy. There's a long ESPn article about it from 2012 LINK

The rumor part is that the boyfriend beat his arse and there was no motorcycle accident, no? I didn't think it was even a question that she had a boyfriend/fiance

Correct, that's what I meant if I wasn't clear. The boyfriend/fiance thing wasn't a rumor at all, it was a fact The rumor was the guy beat up Petrino, which has been a widespread rumor since it happened. Just really weird this is a thread topic 6+ years later like it's "new" news
