They were never going to pass the eye test, but at the end of the day, they did earn it more so than Oklahoma, Ohio State, or Georgia.
Agreed.

I mostly agree with this, except I think they'll always be teams complaining, right or wrong, regardless of how many teams we add to the playoffs.
Agree also. That's what you I said they would nearly disappear, but I don't think anyone's going to care what teams outside the top 8 or so have to whine about. Jmo.

Hey man, enjoy watching the 2015 Bama/Ohio State game tonight. Greatest win in Buckeye history. We'll let you know how the actual National Championship turns out.

Alabama will always have the eye test advantage because of inherent bias. It's the worst point ever made.
The entire selection process is pretty pathetic, IM
Why are so many LSUers so eternally butt hurt about Alabama? It can’t be just a result of 21-0 can it?
So corn doggie, just who was worthy of being in the playoffs but was left out the last...oh... ten years or so? It can’t be LSU... if any team looked like they didn’t belong it was LSU ... my god, if you can’t cross the 50 Yd line in the game, maybe Okie State should have been Alabama’s opponent that year.
The committee has done a far better job including “eye test” than any of the computer programs.

Had tOSU only lost by a few points such as a TD or less, I still think they get because the young Purdue fan that die of Cancer that lifted the team in that win makes me think the CFP throws the Buckeyes a mulligan. But the loss was so huge it just couldn't be overlooked.
The way things played out, Georgia had a better argument for a CFP spot. They lost to LSU in similar fashion.
frick LSU and all, but Purdue ain't no LSU. Not even close. LSU with someone more capable than a the position coach they have at the helm could have been unstoppable.
Purdue is the same team you saw getting a barn bukkake in the Music City Bowl.

Are you suggesting Wisconsin was a better football team or would have defeated Alabama in tackle football in 2017?
Who knows? Alabama lost to a mediocre (at best) Auburn team.

If you are thinking that would be Ohio State, you have been drinking the Columbus KoolAid again.
I have spent some time on High Street in my younger days to know better and I almost married into a big Bucknuts family. Thankfully the lord intervened and sent me in a different direction. Bucknuts are a bit like Utx folks in they have a highly inflated sense of self worth and a strong acceptance of hypocrisy as long as they are winning.

So, what about Bama not having played a conference title game last season?

Long got Bert from the B1G
Look how that turned out for the Hogs
Studies have shown your undergrad choice usually exceeds your grad school choice for team loyalty. Not saying he did not represent his boss at Arkansas but not sure you can say he had no pulls from his youth either.
CUM bolted UF with that job already in place and he returned to his roots. Would not surprise me if he finishes his working career there in an office job.
Saban is a winner and Bama job is his best fit.

win your conference, and you play for the championship.
Or get in as a wild card.
You don't have to win your conference to win any professional title (MLB, NFL, NBA)

Yes, you do. The NFL and the NBA.

They pushed for the CCG's as entre to the CFP then Penn State won and they let in Ohio State instead.
This. Where were their outcries when their conference champion was left out and OSU backdoored in?

Results on the field do matter...that's why Ohio State got left out this year...they loss to a 6-7 Purdue team by 29 points. Last year, Ohio State lost a non-competitive game to Oklahoma and got blew out by a mediocre Iowa team. If you award spots only to conference champs, then results on the field don't matter and the regular season means less. It wouldn't have mattered that Purdue spanked Ohio State; they would've gotten a pass for that game...
Also, you could get situations where teams with 3+ losses get in...Washington was PAC-12 champ and had 3 losses. Had Northwestern pulled the upset, they'd have been a 4 loss B1G champ; losing to Akron at home wouldn't have mattered at all...
Precisely.
Four P5 conferences had teams with 3 or more losses playing in their title games:
PAC - Washington (3) and Utah (3)
ACC - Pitt (5)
Big 12 - Texas (3)
Big 10 - Northwestern (4)
With only the SEC assured of their champ having 0 (Alabama) or 1 (Georgia), the other conferences, with a few upsets, could have sent an absolute shitshow to the CFP. Think on this possible bracket:
Alabama vs Northwestern
Texas vs Utah
You think the semifinals are bad NOW?

You think Oregon was better than Alabama in 2014?

It wasn't even a top three win for that season.

How y’all let a Clemson fan get 43 unanswered green arrows? Y’all stupid?
Even if he makes a good point you gotta red arrow out of principal.

No, you don't. I'm always amazed at people who make blanket statements with such absolute conviction that they clearly have no idea what they're talking about.
The NBA doesn't give 1 shite about divisions. The division champ only gets a boost for seeding.
The NFL has wild card spots. As does the MLB.
The NHL has the top **3** teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, plus the two remaining teams with the best records.
