I think a good argument can be made for either as the GOAT.

BUT one thing I think people are forgetting about Bear Bryant: he won titles at Kentucky and AtM. Even had an undefeated season for the Aggies.

Kentucky won the SEC with Bear, played in major bowls, and has a legitimate argument that they should have been national champs under him one year. Kentucky.

AtM has better pedigree and resources than ky, but it's not a traditional power in the way Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Texas are. Bear had AtM beating all those guys, and probably would have made the Aggies national champs several times over had he not gone to bama.

I think it's best to say they both are easily the best of their generation. For the greatest of all time is just like 1a and 1b IMO.

Do you guys think Saban could turn Kentucky into the SEC champs?

I think Saban is probs greatest coach of all time while Bear is the greatest Alabama coach of all time.

Bear had 14 SEC's (13 in 24 years at Bama) and 6NC's. Saban is going to have to beat the 6 NC's and I don't care if some were split. I personally believe Saban is the better coach because he doesn't drink. But, until he has 6 the Bear reigns supreme in history, imo.

Saban is better. They're the two greatest.

You don't think Saban drinks?

Alabama would have probably watched Clemson beat the hell out of someone else for the title if the system from the 70s was in place in 2015.

There's a lot more access to the championship now than ever before.

My old timer parents who yarn wistfully about Bear all the damn time now say Saban is better.

I say add his name to the stadium.

He said 3-4 years ago he quit drinking because it was getting in the way and he didn't enjoy it that much anyway.

I'm quite sure he'll still have a beer or wine occasionally. Even if he doesn't, how the hell does that make him a better coach than someone else?

Exactly what do you know about the "Bear"? Drinking was his only weakness, imo. I think it cost him his life at a relatively early age. He could have kept going if not for smoking and hard drinking.

That still doesn't diminish what he did as a coach.

Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium has a nice ring to it.

He did it for LSU so I'm sure he could do it for UK.

I prefer Byrant-Saban-Denny too but I'd imagine that most would prefer Bryant-Denny-Saban, if only because "Dryant-Denny" is stuck in every one's heads already.

What an awesome thing that we're gonna have to argue out at some point soon. We've got it really good.
