Just wanna applaud LSU Fans. I love reading some thoughtful exchanges between opposing fans about stuff like this.

That LSU Fans-as well as Auburn, TN, etc-could refrain from devolving it into a flame-fest is refreshing.

A veritable oasis in the midst of the desert of trolling going on elsewhere all around us here. Hope we can keep it up!

Bravo to everyone!

I'd like for this thread to be an actual conversation rather than the usual LSU/Bama flamefest

And then you throw this lil' gem in....

The talent in your secondary is ridiculous. I'm jelly.

Frankly, you are in a much better position we are, although I wouldn't trade Reid or Simon for anyone.

How will they match up with 4 players taller than 6-3 ant all 4 wide-outs?

Hasn't really been a problem in the past, it's incredibly overrated. Unless Arky (I assume this is of who you speak) just plans on chucking up some jump ball deep passes and hoping for the best.

Gumps, those DBs getting any Taller. Our receivers are 6-3 and 6-4.

I guess Nick is giving all of them Leg Irons and Cuffs for the Arkansas Receivers? The SEC Refs shouldn't mind.

I really thought Jabriel Washington would have made a bigger impact up to this point. I understand he is only a redshirt freshman, but he is I believe he is sitting behind Sylve on the depth chart. I guess that either speaks to the talent that is there, or his ability.

I was hoping he would have chosen LSU, so I have always tried to keep an eye on how he was doing out there.

They are tall enough. Basically all in the 6'0" to 6'1" range. Lester may be 6'2." Those are great heights for DBs.

All in all, they'll still be very good. I just don't think we can match last year's combination of talent and experience.

They will be a strength every single year while Saban is there. His recruiting machine is in full swing, and db's are his specialty. It's plug and play... there will be a drop in experience, but the new guys will probably be better at some things. That's the last group I would worry about if I were a gump.

Any word from Tiger fans how Simon is looking now that he is "the man"? And how the Jalens are doing on the other side in camp?

Not venturing over to the Rant to check...

Outside of Reid, he is as good as any other safety in the league.

Agreed. Vinnie gained valuable experience last year and was making plays all over the field in the A-Day game. He has all the tools.

I couldn't think of a better player to replace Mark Barron than Vinnie. He played linebacker in highschool so he's use to being close to the line and supporting the run defense. He tackles very well and he appears to know the defense very well.

I agree with others on here. I do expect a small drop off, but nothing like 2010.

I think the OP pretty much nailed it. I think Sylve will get some playing time a fair bit also this year.

They will have their ups and downs. The Arkansas game scares me, but this corps of DBs will have more experience and leadership than in 2010. I think they'll hit their stride when they get into the brunt of the schedule.
