Maybe Gus Malzahn being fired is not exactly a bad idea.
You guys paid him too much money to fire him right now

Auburn's problem is that they expect to be in contention for the national crown every single year

This is false. But are we so unreasonable to be pissedthat we're struggling to win 6 games and squeak our way into the B'Ham bowl?

I know... I am just saying.

There's your problem.
For this season it's a mixed bag on who should take the blame for the sub par offensive production.
The coaches could do better at scheming to take the pressure off the QB and weak oline. But the QB has mental problems and the running game still struggles.
Some of your players (oline) looked like they were giving half effort in the MSU/UT games and that mentality bled over onto the defensive players. So while the scheme and play calling could use some innovation and creativity to take advantage of the talent on hand, the players have to buck up, focus and give a damn about doing their job on the field as well.

Gus has his players, his coaches, his assistants in place - he built this thing to what it is today while pulling a top salary.

I said last year Gus + Auburn was the worst marriage in sports.
This thing is going to end ugly. I'm extremely glad he didn't come to Arkansas but he should have.

Our issues are that: 1. We have top 10 talent in football year after year.
But only 3rd best in your division.

2. Our coach is paid the 5th largest salary in College Football
Not his fault.

That's a summary of the sentiment on the AU board.
Even if we don't make it to the playoffs, 8 wins should be the floor during a rebuild year. That still allows for losses to 3 SEC teams and the annual kickoff game against a P5 team.

Only school in P5 history that's fired 3 coaches who went undefeated.
Is this supposed to be an insult? I'm pretty sure if you throw out UGA's 4-0 season in the 1800's they haven't even had 3 undefeated seasons in their history. It's not like Auburn is firing coaches at s Nick Saban level. The fact that Terry Bowden, Tommy Tuberville, and Gene Chizik, were able to come in and go undefeated says a lot more about Auburn University than the coaches. None of them are going into the Hall of Fame any time soon.

AU fricked up by giving him that immense extension/raise last year. Unfortunately your AD has to live with it for a few years.
What a terrible look to fire a man less than a year from giving him a huge vote of confidence.

You want to know what Auburn's problem is? Your problem is that your Auburn. Hardly anyone knows or cares where Auburn is or what their doing unless you actually graduated from there. When Auburn played Oregon in the Championship game they had to do a segment on where Auburn was located because anyone outside of the SEC couldn't point it out on a map or even tell you what state they are located in. As much as I hate Alabama you still have to admit that when you think about college football you only consider the Gumps the only program from that state.
I compare Auburn to teams like Rice, or Temple, you have heard of them but unless they are having some great unbelievable season, than you don't even think of them or hear about them.
Maybe yall's problem is that your expectations are too high, because nobody other than your fan base expects you to do anything year after year.

The real problem is saban has set the bar so high that every other school is scrambling to try and match that. It's nearly impossible to replicate what he's doing, and certainly impossible to do it at the same time as he's doing it.
This may be the problem for a very small set of AU fans
It also may be a problem overall for CFB
But it's not the major problem for AU. I don't care about matching Alabama title for title. No Auburn fans thinks we're going to be an elite (top 5-7 all time) team. But teams in our historical bracket of very good/great but not elite manage to string together 9/10 win seasons (LSU, UGA, etc.) in a way that we can't seem to do.
UGA and LSU both have arguably more advantages than us, so it's not necessarily that we have to match/overtake them entirely. But unless either of them creeps into Bama/Clemson territory, there is no reason we should be able to accomplish the increased consistency they've had at times over the last couple decades.

This is a steaming hot take. If you think that the majority of CFB fans, and current high school recruits, do not know where Cam Newton went to school, or who was playing for a Championship in 2013, and beating two #1 teams last year, than you're an idiot. And if the majority of the country isn't capable of determining where Auburn is on a map because the University isn't explicitly named after the state it is in, I couldn't care less. Sounds like a personal problem, that has zero impact on Auburn's ability to compete in the SEC.

Absolutely.
So you agree that we do not have talent in two key areas on offense, yet you think recruiting rankings are an accurate measure of talent.
