Communication would go a long way.

Gus Malzahn is clueless when he tries to address the Auburn fanbase.

Our issues are that:

1. We have top 10 talent in football year after year.

2. Our coach is paid the 5th largest salary in College Football to do a job.

LINK /

Maybe Gus Malzahn being fired is not exactly a bad idea.

In return, maybe Auburn, and their Athletic Division, could make wiser decisions in the future.

Easy.

Throwing money at a situation never works out.

Let's get back to the basics.

What coach is his right mind would jump into that clusterfrick?

Auburn's best bet would be to sign a string of up & coming coaches that stay 2-3 years before moving up.

Is there really that much of a "problem"?

You guys are a little below your average victory total
since 2000 and expectations were higher this year but you guys should be happy/satisfied with 8-5/9-4 every
year with an occasional run at the SECW title.

Do you really think you should have better talent than
Bama,LSU,UGA,UF or even A&M given their talent bases and resources?

Not sure you can do better than Malzahn.

Based on what exactly? Our OL talent is FCS level. Our RB Corp is a complete joke.

Auburn is getting gypped by this guy. He's a mediocore coach. I don't think it helps that everyone hypes up Auburn's QB every year just for them to shite the bed either.

Aub has the players and Gus can coach, but he has an ego problem, and he has trouble getting his players completing for an entire season, for one game yes!

Gus is nothing more than a high school coach. I think most of the Auburn fan base would agree with that sentiment. The 32 mil buyout is ridiculous, however, he does have flashes of greatness from time to time, he just can't maintain it on a long term basis. It ebbs and flows. I would retain him a few more years, upgrade my facilities, field mediocre, bowl eligible teams, and when Saban retires to the lake, open the vault for a big name guy. Anyone hired at this point in time is a waste of money.

Once again, who gives a frick. The fanbase will make up their own stories. Has zero to do with on field performance

None of this is Auburns problem

Our fan base is such a bunch of pussies. They melt like democrats. fricking nauseating to watch.

Not really. Auburn usually has a couple pretty good guys on both sides of the ball & the rest are just kind of middling SEC players.

Cam Newton is the only offensive skill position player drafted in the first round from Auburn in the last 12 years. Thats the same amount as Vandy.

But isn’t that what would be required to fire him?

Just wondering if you asked this same question after the 2012 Chizik season when we went winless in the SEC. Seemed like a clusterfrick right?

Following year, we were in the National Championship game playing FSU.

The Auburn problem is you’re Auburn and your fans expect N.C. every year.

And now that coach is on the hotseat...of course it's a cluster frick.

Only school in P5 history that's fired 3 coaches who went undefeated.

This is asinine. No, our fanbase doesn't expect a NC every year.

What we do expect is a coach that is competent and is competitive in every game.

It wouldn't bother me as much if:

1. Malzahn wasn't given an extremely high buyout by the president and one or two influential boosters because the president didn't want to conduct a coaching search. It is well-known AU's president, who isn't very well-liked because of non football-related issues, made the decision unilaterally. That's not on the fans. Most fans who were happy with Gus still thought the buyout was overkill.

2. the guy is supposed to be an offensive genius. Yet, our offense is completely inept and looks totally lost at times.

As an AU fan,I want a team that is competitive in every game and coached well. We don't have that now.

In fairness, they won one in 2010 and played for another one in 2013. Their biggest problem is consistency. They seem to have the talent year after year, but just can't seem to smooth out their rough edges for whatever reason.

From what I can gather, Auburn fans are satisfied with how often they compete for a national championship. They have won or come close to winning 3 times in the last 14 years. I think the problem Auburn fans have with their program lately is that when they don't have a national championship caliber football team, they go 6-6 or 7-5 rather than 9-3.

Yes we do you Gus defending douche. Gus' average recruiting class ranking over 6 years is 9.

2018-12th
2017-9th
2016-9th
2015-8th
2014-6th
2013-10th

You do the math.

I don't mean to get in the middle of you guys, but I think Lanier's point is your classes are top 10, but you lack in OLine talent, and in a couple of other places...and that makes the overall talent really less than top 10.

That is the way I interpreted his comment, anyway. If Auburn doesn't do something to address the OLine recruiting, it's going to take a long time to recover.
