So you're saying one of those other 2-loss teams should have been invited? Would that have somehow been less laughable?

I have never heard a plausible explanation from anyone why LSU was not deserving of playing in that game when compared to any other team. You can always throw out "2 loss teams shouldn't play for it", but that statement is made in a vacuum. Who should have played tOSU that year if not LSU?

I wish we could put this to bed. There's no legit discussion on it at all.

If you look at it from an honest and unbiased view, 06 and 08 are about the only ones that you can't debate.

Heck, everyone knows that USC was the best team in 2003 and should've been invited over LSU to New Orleans. That's why they won the AP championship.

And for 2007, a 2 loss team being invited to the championship is just laughable. There were several 2 loss teams just as good or better.

NSIS, but I'll bite....
(1) FYI, LSU was #2 in every poll. If anyone should have been replaced it was Oklahoma. In the 'current' BCS formula, USC would have played LSU in the 2004 Sugar Bowl/BCSCG, but LSU would have been #1, so there is no possible way they would have been overtaken by either USC or Oklahoma. But the then BCS rules voted OU still #1 and LSU #2. So you are utterly wrong.

Oh and by the way, LSU held 56-points-per-game OU to a 1/2 yard drive after a blocked punt, and a 30 yard drive after an INT, and gave up half of OU's TOTAL game yardage of 150 yards in the last 8 minutes, but USC was better ?????????????
ROTFLMAO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(2) What other teams would you have had play BCS #1 Ohio State INSTEAD of BCS #2 LSU ??????
Kansas? Hawaii?
You DO realize that SOS is part of the BCS formula? And those two teams were in the 150 range for SOS.
You should also realize that LSU annihilated former #2 and final #9 ACC champion Virginia Tech - FORTY-EIGHT to SEVEN ???, along with Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss. State,
and South Carolina ????????????
