You know the LGBT parade is over huh? There are weird individuals here. They want to sniff my butt and now want to see my wiener. This is horrible. What's even more odd is that none of them are Texas A&M fans.

With your help, Mississippi isn't any longer the dumbest state in America.
Not dead last

This is stupid as hell and it has nothing to do with ANY SEC state at all.

The problem is... variability. In every country, every state, and every city... there are places you'd want to live and places you don't want to live. This includes the school systems and their strengths for the community.

For instance where I live in north Alabama - the schools systems here are doing a tremendous job. Madison, Athens, Decatur, and most of Huntsville will stack up well in ANY state, not just Alabama. But no matter how good of a job we do, state averages are not going to overcome the poor "black belt" counties.

Frankly, in my view, money is not the problem. So many people there are mired in mediocrity with no drive to excel, exceed, and simply accept their lot in life as the status quo. They refuse to invest in their school systems beyond what the state provides. IMHO many people accept a defeatist view and will never improve.

Do you think it is fair to lump Hoover, Bob Jones, James Clemens, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, etc etc along with Wilcox Central and such? Not even close.

Florida - overall - has a great state school system. You think you could find any under performing schools there? Of course you can. I know for a fact that a lot of teachers HATE it there. But that's something totally different, but teacher retention stats would be skewed. Anyone that accepts unqualified stats like this is a moron.

Ive learned through experience things like this are no more reliable than the presidential polls that gave HRC a 99.999% chance of winning.

Ive lived all around the country. From growing up just north of Birmingham to my son being born in St Louis, to a daughter being born in DC, and another daughter in Eugene Oregon. My son has done schooling in DC, Oregon, and now Alabama. He had never had an English class until he came to Alabama. He had what was called "language arts" but it was more of a reading class. My son had never broken down a compound complex sentence. He had never had to identify an adjective, adverb, or pronoun. He started 9th grade in Alabama...

I grew up in Alabama and had a better grasp on the English language than those from all other corners of the country.

Through experience i can say without a doubt that those things are no more an indication of a states "dumbness" than the presidential polls, and we saw how correct those were in November 2016.

The space shuttle main engines were tested at Stennis. Stennis is the main engine test facility for NASA. Rolls Royce also has an engine test facility there.

The F-1 engines used in the Apollo era were tested at Marshall. The noise and vibration was so extensive at MSFC that alternate test location sites were considered.

Stennis (not called that until the late 80's) was selected primarily because of water/barge access and the ability to create a large isolation zone. The first major tests at Stennis were actually Stage 2 testing for the Apollo rockets (clusters of J-2s), then moving on to test the space shuttle main engines.

My dad tells me that he remembers he could feel those tests as far off as Oneonta (almost 70 miles away.)
