I think this one even eclipses 2008 Missouri game

So far we have Houston, K State, West Virgina and now Missouri. Was the Alabama game last year the biggest game ever played in Austin????

It is amazing that a game against Houston seems to be memorable for Texas fans. That Houston team played exactly one team with a pulse....Texas....and got blown out. They wound up playing Arizona State in Tokyo on December 1. If that is truly a memorable crowd at DKR it may speak more to the environment at DKR.

The Houston coaches and players talked a bunch of trash in the week leading up to that game.. I was still in high school, and it wasn't my first game, but it was definitely the most memorable up to that point. I only applied to one school though.. my mom went to Texas as well and that's just always where I wanted to go.

DKR gets up for big games.. the problem is that there haven't been that many big games at DKR over the years..

In fact, this is only the 3rd time EVER that both teams will be in the AP Top 5.

1970 Horns vs Hogs
2006 Horns vs Bucks - we were overrated because of the NC
2024 Horns vs Dawgs

There have been a lot of Top 10 matchups.. but the list is pretty short for Top 5. Our biggest game historically is in Dallas.. and for whatever reason, Texas and Texas A&M were pretty much never good at the same time.

It's gonna be a great crowd.

Zero chance with the welfare states of the Old South (LA, AL, MS).

I wonder if those states even know what F1 is. They probably think it's an alchohol-infused energy drink

Wow! What an elitist, snob comment to make. Did it make you feel superior.

I won’t try and guess your wealth, hope you’re loaded, but I can tell you I’ve been to six National Championship games in my lifetime. Very expensive trips they were. Each time, I sat with 30 -40,000 Bama fans some spending more, some less. Either way, they spent a small fortune.

Maybe in your lifetime your shitty longhorn team will actually win something and YOU will have to spend big money to go to a Natty.

You will find that the majority of Texans aren’t from Texas. There from those backward states you mentioned and except for a few Texans with oil and cattle, Texas has plenty of trashy trailer parks which house many longhorn fans.

PS: Ever been to Talledega? Wayyy bigger than your little, tea sip F1 or whatever go cart that is.

I hope Georgia kicks your arse Saturday. I will be back here crowing you POS.

Seriously, there is a heaping pile of Alabama fans who will have to put off retirement because of Nick Saban. We spent right at $10k going to the rose bowl in 2017 and almost $4k going to the SEC championship game the same year and I have 4 tickets to the SEC CG every year and stayed with family. We lived in New Mexico at the time. Alabama fans ain't wanting for money when it comes to traveling with the Tide....I suspect the average cost for a Alabama fan to travel to Indianapolis for the NT game was about $2k per person. There were a BUNCH of them there! Folks in Alabama have plenty of money to go to Austin if they were so inclined....the bastards are everywhere Alabama plays....

There are some very good Texas posters on the rant, however, I learned at a very young age, don’t guess how much money someone has by the clothes they wear or the house they live in.

I’ve lived in Texas for 30 years, an awesome state with great people, however, no better than anyplace else. It’s got its issues like every other place.

Hope the Dogs pound that steer this weekend

I couldn’t hear my buddy talking to me at the WVU game. He said he’d never been in a louder stadium. Again it was a night game.

Night games at DKR are loud, and even more so with renovations over the last 10 years or so. It’ll be a fun environment.

You, an Alabama fan, will be crowing about a victory of Georgia’s over a team the crimson tide are clearly afraid of?

Seems kinda beta if you ask me

The fact you have to the 90s to find a loud game speaks volumes. That is on the fanbase not the architecture of the stadium

UGA brings it.

The game in all honesty has Texas favored from start to finish and unless some sugar starts falling from the sky Bevo should graze in earnest.

1) that game was just that loud - it was a different era though.. true fans went to games back then.. today, I feel like a decent percentage is corporate and/or people with money who aren't necessarily true fans that will yell and scream the whole game

2) There have been other games that were really loud.
2008 Ok State
2008 Missouri
2019 LSU
2021 Alabama

I don't remember the year, but there was a WVU game in there too..

But none of those games matter. The question is.. will DKR be a good HFA going forward? This Saturday, maybe we find out.

1) We are becoming painfully aware of the uptick in outlanders. Like so many other things, nothing good lasts forever.

2) However, I challenge this assertion. We are all from England (or somewhere) depending how you look at it. But I'm pretty sure if you ask all living, breathing, walking Texans where they were born - 80% would be Texas. Not where their parents were born. Not where Davy Crockett was born. Where *they* were born. Despite the California defectors.

I think it's weird that a neutral comment on the nature of the local fanbase and it's role in the gameday atmosphere gets some of you so wound up.

Going to a game at DKR is much more similar to a rowdy NFL game than a typical large college venue. That's just the nature of Texas' unique location/circumstance. The same is true for USC. That's just the way it is, it's not meant to be offensive.

I agree. I think our fan base was bored with our competition. I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Ours fans want excitement and the best competition. The SEC certainly is that.

Opposite for me. I attended many games at the Kyle Field that used to look like a tackle box. That place had the college feel on steroids.

I've been to 2 games at the new gargantuan Kyle Field. I keep waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to run out. Feels different and definitely less "college".

Also doesn't seem as loud as the old Kyle Field, which makes no sense because it's closed in.

The F1 race is in town.

Not only did Texas wait until late so t to actually play somebody, they also planned this in the same weekend as the race, making it difficult for Georgia fans to travel and find a hotel room.

To be clear, the races this weekend are the F1 - Grand Prix, part of the Formula One World Championship.

Attendance for the 2023 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas was 432,000, which was slightly lower than the 2022 record of 440,000. The 2023 attendance was still considered healthy for the event, but some noted that the grandstands were emptier on Friday and Saturday.

Last year was still hot for this time or year. Saturday should have a high of 81. This year's evening entertainment is Eminen on Friday and Sting on Saturday. Should be a great day to be outdoors.

Saturdays fly by will be a B1.

Going to be a loud and speedy weekend in ATX.
