Guys like yourself point this rightly point this but then make claims about how the new guys are going to be "better" than the multi year starters they replaced.
3 of the 5 starters are upper classman and were starters at one point (Hutson, Campbell) or on the cusp (Neto) and mixed-in occasionally. Neto already being raved about as possibly best run blocker on team. Goosby is a legit stud who answered any questions against Georgia. The only question is 5 * RT Baker. We also have Nick Brooks who is very young and getting rave reviews and will probably see playing time. We are deep and offseason workouts matter. Did you think we'd trot Arch Manning out there as a starter behind a so-so line?

Congratulations, only the shorthorns could fix so many pressing football problems, and do it all on paper. Can we just go ahead and get you people the first annual SEC Paper Tiger Award?

Doubtful considering who they are playing.

For context. It took your offense nearly a half of football to break the defense. You only broke it open after the OU defense, so demoralized after its impotent offense did NOTHING with the several opps given to it, that they pretty much gave up.
So, no, the statement the other sooner isn’t inaccurate. If OU had even a top 50 offense, just middle of the road, the score after the first quarter would’ve been 17-0 in favor of OU.

Or perhaps you will lose by 42 like you’ve done so often in the past.
You hang two blowout wins in years after a complete program restructuring and act like OU (in the very very recent past) hasn’t hinge 40 and 50 spots on your teams…several times.

Our RB3 going into the season went for over 100 rushing yards. It was also one of Quinn’s worst games.
And Texas still won by 30+
The ifs and buts go both ways. Texas was a much better team. Deal with it

Congrats you were a much better team than a team that went 6-7…I suppose you guys need to take the wins when you can get them given your experience esp the last 25 years!
Yawn at your blow out talk. Literally nobody cares about blowing out a shell. Now if you blew us out this year, I’ll be concerned/tip my cap.

OP with a horrible take on the OL and only seeing 4/5 starters gone. Many of these starters were not high caliber, the OL last year was not elite. Williams false started a million times and it wasn’t a good run blocking unit.
One of the non starters from last year is actually pre-season all SEC in Goosby. Campbell is seasoned. Baker and Neto are 5 star OL who should be strong in the running game. Banks was the only huge loss honestly - that and needing to replace a center I will give you is usually important. Is it the unit with the most questions - yes, probably this - but it’s not going to be our undoing.
Team list double digit guys to the draft two years in a row. We were fine last year and will be more than fine this time around. Better RB’s this year with a seasoned Wisner and Baxter returning and a mobile combined with Sark’s playcalling ability will help mitigate weaknesses.

My goodness, we have utterly crushed the sooners’ spirits. You’re in shambles

So every Horn poster on here thinks the new line will be better than last year's despite losing four of five starters.
So the question then becomes... how come the four starters they had last year were playing ahead of the guys that are going to start this year... if this group is so great?

I respect Oklahoma as a football program, but Venables is not the answer.
Could you beat us this year? Yes, it’s a rivalry game and I’ve seen the better team lose too many times.. both ways..
Venables won’t survive this year.. I wish he would, but it’s not happening.. also Tow Mater doesn’t finish the RRS.

I don’t know if they’ll be better or not, but they’re going to appear to be better.
Arch is aggressive and takes shots down the field all the freaking time. That will make teams play a three high shell, which will benefit the running game, especially since most of the offensive line this year, excels in the running game.
Last year the offensive line was better at pass protection, but really struggled in the run game against the better defenses.
Of course, this is all just my opinion, and maybe I’m wrong.. I just think you’re going to see a completely different offense this year. Even going back to Sark’s first year., it was a completely different offense because Casey Thompson liked to take shots down the field.
Quinn on the other hand, threw a shitty deep ball. He was great in the intermediate stuff, but teams knew he wasn’t gonna throw deep, and so they were able to be more aggressive with him.
But Arch is going to struggle some and he will likely have more turnovers.. but arch doesn’t have to be great for Texas to be really good this year.. I think our defense is going to be that good.

I disagree I think venables encountered a pretty brutal situation and underestimated the learning curve between DC and HC. I think he’s grasped those lessons learned now, recruited better than LR ever did, and has a really solid infrastructure around him such as Nagy and Randall Stephenson. This is the year he makes the leap and wins 9 or more games.
Even if he doesn’t, it would be a financial and organizational mistake to fire him if he wins at least 6 games and give one more year to get it right. Firing someone hardly works out for the better but just restarts the rebuilding process - Nebraska has been rebuilding since firing Frank Solich, which was a major mistake.

With that math wonder you couldn’t get into Texas and had to attend Oklahoma
Congrats on the wins from before the current players were born, though!!

1st and goal from the 1
We’re both wrong; mine was a typo, yours was just incorrect. It was 1st and goal from the 1 followed by what you described.
Regardless my point is that it doesn’t matter how good the OL is if the scheme and/or play calling sucks.

It was hilarious watching Archs tape from HS against little dudes who were trying not to hit him hard because of who he is.
