Being beat by Texas, hockey-sticked back to prominence and upper echelon via NIL $, absolutely scared and eventually broke Saban’s will and desire to compete in this era. Arguing otherwise isn’t even happening anymore. Just so happened it was Texas that broke the old man. Kismet as the hippies say.
Let's rewind and check the tape. When Saban ordered the non-existent, phantom injury on Colt's Shoulder, it sent Texas into a whirlwind of hurt and pain that lasted over a decade.
Mack Brown lost his muddled mind after that game because he didn't understand how a football team could run the ball. He literally didn't know running the ball was allowed.
He therefore "tried" to change the whole philosophy of Texas and its high school playbook into a running team that could enforce their will on people like Daddy Saban had done to him.
It didn't work. Mack Brown was broken and Texas was broken and they were no better than Tulane for many years.
All of that started precisely as soon as the Bama/Texas NC game was concluded.

No. NIL is what did in Bama.

Right…you prolonged and expounded on half the points I made…
Good job
Good job

NIL is what brought Texas back from the dead and Texas, beating Bama at night in Tuscaloosa, personified NIL for Saban. He saw the ghost of ncaa future that night and “nope’d” out. His will— heck I’ll go so far as to say his heart— was broken that night. The beginning of the end, which came very fast for the old man.

No, I presented reality, not a fantasy realm dream that you offered. I refuted your points, provided the necessary corrections, and have given you wisdom and enlightenment that you were unable to obtain on your own.

Your desire for Texas to duplicate Bama’s success is showing. Unfortunately for you, your all hat no cattle rings true for the horns. Enjoy your next few wins until Florida and Georgia. Their going too kick your arse.
And, I’ll even go so far as to say A&M will beat you. That’s four losses. Goodbye

You believe whatever you want. I don’t think Saban being heartbroken losing to Texas and a former assistant played a role.

All you really said was that the Saban dynasty began with rose bowl 09 because colt got hurt. I already said that. I didn’t go into our own wandering the desert story. I’m just glad those lost years are over. You don’t know what sort of pain you are in for because NIL is already here— what Deux ex machina can help a lowly class of people like Bama, without their football players being elite?
Nothing interesting or good is coming out of Bama anymore. Maybe you can get a show and get that Abby Lee Miller Sorority Tok dance money.

You didn't play FSU...who cares about that flawed logic?

Horn fans have lost it … their preseason ranking is over and the real season has begun ……. Hey want to be the center of attention still …. OU fans have dealt with their crap for years …..

You sound about as smart as your namesake. The Wonderlic score of 6 is still quite an achievement.

He was heartbroken because he loves college football. He saw the writing on the wall. It was irreconcilably broken from what it used to be and what it was and was to come due to big time $$$ being legal. A man whose whole identity was built on the back of the old way, seeing his last sand pass through the hour glass, and realizing he was done? It broke his heart.

So on brand for a Texas loser.
Thank you.

Thank you.

That loss still didn’t play much of a role. Having to deal with the players wanting more money and deal with all that drama burned him out.

I gotta go, the security guard noticed I’m gone.
