If there's a position you can get by without a dude in the game today, it's running back. I don't really think this is going to change the outcome of the season drastically for you guys. As long as you have someone that can get some tough yardage and block effectively, you'll be fine.

We lost our RB1 last year midway through the season and subsequently had quite a successful season.
We have 4 RBs who were all 4*+ guys
2 with experience and 2 freshmen
Play calling may be hampered a bit till they catch up, but we'll be fine. I appreciate everyone's concern.

The wording of OP’s original post is bizarre. Word is there is no ACL tear, but more information yet to come. This might not even be a huge issue, second to that we have a deep RB room - so as it didn’t seem to change too much last year - I don’t think it would this year either.

If Baxter is out then reload with Blue. He is faster too.

Blue reached the highest MPH of any RB in CFB last season. Big plays often determine games, and Blue has the potential for many more big plays than Baxter.
Unfortunately, Sark's offense calls for frequently pounding it between the tackles. Can Blue be that guy? We don't know. Baxter was 100% that guy - no doubt.
I have heard the news on Baxter is not good, so Texas needs to figure things out in a hurry.

Where have you heard that? Anyone and everyone is saying it’s bad and he’s done

Notre Dame lost their left OT yesterday. With a major rebuild on the OL this season, that one hurts double.

UTrans fans will tell you it doesn't matter. They will just replace him with "somebody better"

Insiders from Texas are reporting " The initial MRI results of Cedric Baxter's knee injury have been received. It's our understanding that Baxter and Texas are now in the process of getting additional opinions from other experts in the field as I type this.
We do not believe it's a straight-forward case of an ACL tear.
However, I was also cautioned that that doesn't mean he's out of the woods either. Even something categorized as a "sprain" is actually a slight tear, and there are other parts of the knee that may have been compromised as well. "

Might just be a meniscus tear, which still sucks.
He would probably miss At least two months

Well considering we have another Doak Walker award watch list RB, it's not as serious as outsiders think.

Blue is a head case. He's perfect for UTrans

Would be a blow, him and Blue were gonna be "thunder and lightning" this season. Biggest drawback if he does miss time will be blitz pickup.

The last 2 Longhorn RBs that aggies said were "headcases" were the first 2 RBs selected in the last 2 NFL draft.

I was accused of jumping the gun. Once again, when a guy is carted off and needs a MRI and it’s silence, it’s never good.

Man, this is rough. He was good last year, but never really went full speed because of injuries....and now this. Blue is a stud, but is the only veteran left. Some young guys are going to have to play some serious snaps.

I like Blue a lot, but the wear and tear of the season will take a toll. Wisner impressed me last year in the limited snaps he got as well. Then we got 2 rooks.
Perhaps Bolden gets a look back there as well.
Hopefully Baxter makes a full recovery..
