Barry Odom is a really good defensive coordinator that does a good job of giving QBs unconventional looks. This is the part of the game that scares me the most.

Sark is going to attack Bishop/Clark at corner for us. They are easily our biggest weakness in what is otherwise a very stout back 7. Question is will your QB be able to take advantage and convert the throws that are there. If he does Odom will have to help which will open up your run game.

Us losing one of our LBers for the first half will probably hurt us in trying to contain your RB. fricking targeting calls.

card appears to be pretty accurate but he’s still holding on to the ball too long. This is something that he will improve on with more experience but is still a problem now.

The hope for Arkansas would be to give him junk looks that mess his reads up and force him to take sacks. Card also got sacked yesterday on a corner blitz that he didn’t see that it’s his read to identify and adjust to. There’s plenty on film I’m sure that Odom will see that he can try to exploit. Texas still plays a guy at LG in Denzel Okafor that struggles in pass pro and is a holding machine.

Texas will likely continue to use its RBs as safety valves in the passing game out of the backfield as blitz beaters.

I didn’t see the Pool targeting call but I really don’t like the rule that they have to miss the first half of the next game (unless it was really egregious).

Both were targeting by rule, but the next game sit out is ridiculous. Hell we had a LB sit the 1st half yesterday from a penalty against Bama last year. I loath the rule. RB/WR/QB can duck heads all game, but defenders can’t. At least make it like flagrant fouls in NBA and have tiers of targeting.

The aTm targeting call that was reversed was way worse than the Pool call

Oh look, a thread with Arkansas in the title and a Mizzou poster responding. Rivalry Application Denied. Again.

Living in your head rent free.

Also, I don't consider it a rivalry. The contest has to be competitive on a regular basis and you guys just constantly suck.

That would depend on whether or not you're including all of Austin's homeless bums.

If Arkansas can’t get their passing game going Sark will once again play very vanilla

The reason for the line being so low is that ULL had some success running the ball.
They aren’t giving them enough credit up front. ULL has some RBs
We will see if Arkansas has the same success

Arkansas tried to do the same thing with Rice but didn’t work out so well
I do think they have some more on offense but ultimately their problem is the limited route tree with a Briles offense

These defense now are designed to understand the routes of the WRs
Levi Lewis was smart enough not to throw the ball
I just don’t know if Jefferson will do the same
Lewis has started about 50 games in his career and doesn’t throw many interceptions

Briles/Pittman vs Kwiatkowski is a pretty good coaching matchup

Should be fun

What ULL vs Texas game did you watch?

Lewis threw the ball 40 times and the only real success he had was the last drive of the 1st half and the final 2 drives when Texas was just giving them completions underneath to run out the clock.

ULL had 29 carries for 76 yards, even with sacks that is still horrible.

Not a single throw to stretch the defense.
Point was about stretching the defense for Texas

Arkansas could try that but it is hard when those WRs have a limited route tree
Today DBs are taught to read the route and then jump it. Instead of playing the WR and the ball
Great QBs can adjust but those are extremely rare at the college level

They had success running the ball
Look at the RB stats.
Arkansas had success against Rice running the ball
The line is low because Vegas feels like Texas won’t do enough on offense to make Arkansas one dimensional and Arkansas will be able to move the ball at times

But if I was Arkansas I would worry about turnovers with Jefferson

The only real question mark going into next Saturday is whether Texas is mature enough to go on the road and execute at a high level. If they do the game won’t be close. Arkansas is already one dimensional, Texas doesn’t have to do that for them.

Arkansas only real shot is if Texas turns the ball over, plays like shite, and KJ miraculously hits a couple of deep shots which is certainly possible. The Briles offense is essentially a run and shoot offense. Run the ball to bring the safeties up, then take shots.

KJ has a 49% completion rate going into his 3rd year while averaging 3.2 ypc. He is a worse version of Tyrone Swoopes.
