Not true.
The data are available.

The “media darlings who fail to live up to the hype” are as follows:

quote:

Over the past two decades, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas have fallen from their preseason ranking by season’s end with greater frequency than every other program in the nation. From the first AP poll to the last, each of the five teams has underperformed its preseason ranking in 14 of the past 20 seasons, or 70 percent of the time. LSU, Nebraska and Ohio State are right behind, having underperformed expectations 65 percent of the time.

Good job, Aggies!

I did not realize that Aggy broke Colt McCoy and sent their program into a tailspin they have yet to recover from.

The wiki on that game is fun times.

This game did not result in a victory like all the others had that season. Texas QB Colt McCoy went down early and was replaced by true freshman Garret Gilbert, who threw four interceptions.

Horns Down, indeed.

Are we also saying the SEC West and the Big XII are essentially the same?

A. The dominos did start falling with Dodds letting ther Brown era run too long.

B. Texas is about education & money, Dodds' last years were getting fat on his own press, but he did his job masterfully over the years in regards to the financial/power plays.

C. Even Texas fans hate Dodds & always have.

Your "education" isn't quite up to SEC standards, however. In the SEC, Texas would rank only 4th-best after Vanderbilt, Florida and Georgia.

Oh, well. You do have the money. But, it ain't doin' much fer ya!

I really did think going into this year that Texas was back to some degree. The Sugar Bowl win and then the very competitive LSU game makes this enormous backslide all the more mysterious.

The defense is unbelievably bad despite having excellent talent.

Herman may not last another year. You can't act like an egotistocal ahole and consistently crap the bed against Maryland, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and TCU.

‘ If Georgia would stop losing to them, maybe they would realize that they aren't actually back.’

OP did kind of step right into that...

It really felt like losing to LSU at home took the wind out of their sails. Herman’s body language was saying the opposite of what his lips were after the game in the presser. They thought they were a NC contender, and they could’ve still been, but just didn’t have the fight in them to prove it when they got hit in the mouth. Also had some injuries.

It kind of reminds me of Les Miles at LSU being undefeated before Bama, then after losing that game dropping 2 or 3 more that he had no business losing.

I don't think that is remotely accurate. Especially after LSU beat Florida and Texas played OU closely on the same day.

At least the fans were trying to figure out a way to rationalize those loses. Every since then, no way to rationalize.

I think Texas has learned that Mack Brown was not as bad a coach as they thought

That’s the key EKG. The media drools over them when in fact they haven’t been that good recently. Not what I would say is bad but not good. Average team.

So, 8.3 wins in the SEC West (with a Heisman to boot) is the same as 7 wins in the Big XII?

Go home. You're drunk.

Y’all need to play. Just play. If Aggie is scared say scared and hide behind Bama like y’all always do. If not play
