I am all for progress. College basketball actually made an official rule change that allows players to test the draft process and return to school under certain conditions.
College football has never officially made that same rule change. The current situation exists only because of lawsuits brought by athletes challenging the eligibility rules. Along the way, people have started drawing arbitrary lines about whether signing an NFL contract, making a training camp roster, or playing a season should determine eligibility.
The reality is that those distinctions were never part of a formal NCAA rule change. They have largely been created on the fly through litigation and court decisions. As a result, some conferences are allowing players from the 2022 five-year eligibility window to return even after they signed NFL contracts, while others view signing a professional contract as the line that ends college eligibility.
Until the NCAA formally changes the rule, the traditional standard remains that entering and completing the NFL Draft process ends a player’s college football eligibility, unless a court ruling provides an exception. Basketball changed its rules through the NCAA. Football, so far, has changed through lawsuits.

He tried out and did not make NFL team. He was never paid for the tryout. Looks like people are drawing the line if you’ve been paid by the NFL you cannot come back to college football..

Keep in mind Harris hasn’t received a single cent as payment.

OMG, this player signed his name on a sheet of paper and got paid, hes a pro but this guy participated in the same capacity but just didnt sign a paper, its TOTALY diff.

-He assumes all risk of injury while the evaluating team is not obligated to provide any medical treatment.
-Gets paid the minimum for necessity
-Get's cut while healthy- probably makes 500,000 at Texas while continuing education

-Got cut before he even played in a single game
Did not make more than a dollar

I already let you know he was paid. Any player at a rookie mini camp signs documents for participation.
