It's not like OU fans haven't been to Columbia, MO a bunch of times.

And I am going to defend the old "Big 8" on here.

All of old Big 8 schools (including Columbia/Mizzou) all have really nice campuses and the towns are nice college towns. The only weak campus in that conference was Nebraska. And town wise, they all had some charm. Although again, Lincoln was a bit different in that it was a lot bigger than the rest and for lack of a better word had a more "urban" setting.

The SEC has very strong campuses and many nice towns. Going to Oxford, Starkville, Tallahassee, and Gainesville are kind of like the old Big 8 towns... cept for the pine and palm trees. LOL.

For real. But night-and-day better. Better fans, better venues, classic football. Hell you'd be hard pressed to find most B12 team fans online. Here, we've got 10's if not 100's of thousands of us, all in one place.

It's glorious

Only complaint is the lack of divisions and all the politics about scheduling. Manufacturing phony rivalry games is really dumb, and we ought to just be in divisions and have a clear path to the championship.

Also I do miss having a couple more teams from our neck of the woods, and I hate that we don't have the Bedlam game between OU and Ok State.

Other than that, it's fantastic. Much better, more fun, crazy fans, etc. More in common in terms of brands and tradition.

Texas played OU, A&M and Arkansas in the regular season for the first time in 25 years.

Texas played Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky.

Texas also played Michigan & Ohio State, and Clemson & Arizona State.

My passion is Texas Football, and this year had been fun like few in history.

Hosting Georgia & Florida was a treat.

The reception from the SEC Rant was been consistent with what I have read here for the last 6 years. Most of what people "know" is what they have seen for the past 10-15 years. Most here don't know a lot about Texas, the State or the University. Good thing they are not representative of the SEC as a whole.

Being able to help alter some of those perceptions has been comforting.

Texas had the best record in the SEC, finished 11-1, played for the SEC Championship, and won 2 playoff games in route to the CFP semifinals.

And, we are in a good position going forward.

Overall, I enjoyed the year.

Texas has not had the SEC experience. In football the only new road game was Vanderbilt. Their other road games OU, A&M, and Arkansas they are very familiar with.

Basketballl road games games are same thing so far. At A&M and OU.

They do not know what it's like on the road in the SEC yet.

Loved it and miss none of the in-state matchups from the Big 12. Don't care if we never play any of them again. The Ags are the only state rival that matters.
Especially looking forward to SEC baseball as that's my first love when it comes to Longhorn sports.

The only negative was to have Misery on the schedule and traveling to that crap hole CoMO.

And traveling home to a worse shithole after claiming your "L" from Regina.

You should make some baseball road series. It's completely different from the Big XII, and also gives you a better taste of the SEC college towns, when they aren't overrun with football fans on a football weekend.

Well I will say this - the games are much more affordable. Holy cow, football will eat your lunch, and take an arm and a leg

Well you beat Alabama in your first year. That doesn’t usually happen and by that I mean beating Alabama for anyone anytime any coach.

BTW, Sooner fans were great fans and had some cuties too.

Make a trip to Alex Box, Dudy Noble, Swayze, Baum if you can.

SEC baseball has fantastic parks and atmospheres like no other conference. The above consistently get crowds of 10-15k per conference game.

I will add that Dudy Noble is now a complete notch above. State catches a lot of shite from opposing fanbases, but nobody can touch the Dude.

You do realize we've had a grand total of 1 (one) season in the SEC and in '25 home games flip to away, right? Unless our schedule never changes there will be chances in the future for even more new towns/stadiums.

Any way you cut it, beats the hell out of going to Lubbock, Stoolwater, Manhattan KS etc..

You’re going to love the SEC baseball environment. There is no other conference that turns out as much as the SEC for baseball. Even though when they lose they will tell you how much No one cares for baseball.
