Boxing is discontinued as a NCAA sport but it doesn’t take away the national championship, imo.

Equestrian is an enthralling sport... and it isn't recognized by the NCAA. Its still listed as an "emerging sport", which is a nice way of saying it hasn't made the grade.
Leaving out the football titles I count 13 Nattys for A&M.
That puts you right in the middle of the SEC pack.
Arkansas has 44 (hopefully the women's track team can bring home 45), LSU is right on our heels at 43 (literally since LSU women's track is nationally ranked as well this year), and then Florida is sitting at 40 and with the way they've been collecting titles will probably pass the Hogs and Bayou Bengals sometime in the next few years. Then you go to Georgia at 31.
Everyone else is stuck in the mid-teens and lower.

Not quite.....
You need so many teams playing in the NCAA to make it work. Some of the best teams in the USA do not want to trade their club status for NCAA status and lose sponsors and global exposure. I was told years ago Kentucky's team is basically semi pro to pro and going NCAA would be a step down for them.
As for racking up titles via T&F is is the only 3 season sport with separate seasons
NCAA bowling starts in the fall, continues in the winter, and concludes in the spring.
All year = 1 NCAA trophy
NCAA cross country (Fall) Indoor (Winter) Outdoor (Spring) = 3 NCAA trophies
You could have a team win all 3 seasons with the same athletes for 3 different NC's
