You need to get used to receiving different treatment than Texas. We run this shite now. We’ll expel you from your own conference if you don’t fall in line. We’ll play Cole Hutson with zero pushback and you will like it.

Yes, narrowly tailored rule that specifically benefits one program over another.
SEC will have to defend its asymmetric enforcement of rule, will be interesting to hear their arguments concerning this issue.

In fairness, he was never on an NFL roster or signed an NFL contract. That said, I think once you enter the NFL draft you should be done in college football. However, I do see a big difference in trying out for the NFL and not signing a contract or making a roster and a player that makes the roster, signs a contract and then gets cut.

Also, maybe Texas would have to process players if they take on additional, but everything I’ve read and heard from LSU’s side is that we have a few spots to fill, so no one would get processed with a few adds.

You do if you are under contract. If you are invited to minicamp, but are not under contract, you do not receive money.
Now, that said, I am getting this online, and i think it is AI driven and could be wrong. But what I found, is that there is the draft, then a rookie minicamp. If you are drafted, you go to the minicamp. If you are an UDFA you can go to the minicamp in an effort to be noticed and offered a contract.
Here is what I got:
No — non-roster players (including undrafted free agents and non-roster tryouts) do not receive payment just for attending minicamp; they only earn money if they sign a contract with the team before or during camp.
They guy Texas wants was an UDFA, and non rostered, meaning he did not have a contract, but contacted teams in an effort to get offered a contract, which would have upgraded him to an UDFA. Again, I have been burned a couple of times with information online, so take it for what it is worth.

They get paid a per-diem, $179 per day. For Cole Hutson, 2 camps, 3 days each = $1,074 cash money, in addition to travel, meals and lodging.
They sign a contract with each team that limits the teams liability if they get hurt during camp. He did in fact, "put pen to paper". He did in fact get paid by an NFL team.

Junior Tuihalamaka never signed an NFL contract (he was hurt during his Pro Day).

BS. Everyone in mini camp gets paid a per diem. Documents are signed. They are also covered by medical insurance for injuries. Documents are signed. These are legal documents that would hold up in court if player had to sue to receive these benefits.
