Yeah that's the first I've heard of Fisher as well, sounds like some bullshite.

It was started by some BU grad write in Dallas.

they aren't going to offer him more than 5.5-6 per year if he is lucky.
Sumlin already makes over 5 M and we pay out coordinators & assistants as much as anyone. MSU is going to have to bump up their total pay to the coaching staff by several million to match we could be offered.
Do you want me to start listing them? Recruiting Texas vs Mississippi? Playing in front of 100k vs 60k? Unlimited resources (he plays around in a helicopter to HS football games)? Facilities - from the stadium to locker rooms, to coaching offices, to treatment facilities, to training complex, and on and on and on. While we're not Bama, who has more history and prestige?
The only thing I can think of that State has over A&M at this point is familiarity with the program.
Your 100,000 is nothing compared to our 60,000. Ask any team that comes to starvegas when the stadium is rocking. He's not gonna leave with the team h s gonna have the next few years. Almost the same nature teambreturns next year. With added talent and depth. He's gonna see this through a while especially with the conference being more manageable. He may have a chance to do something at State that nobody has done. He's not hurting for money. He's the 16 th highest paid. In lin for a raise. As far as coordinators, TGwill get a raise and has already swim he's staying cuz his son is going to graduate in Starkville. Presently a 10th grader. Mullen doesn't need an high priced OC. He is the OC.
Sooo what else you got?

The hunch back isn't leaving that power house MSU to rebuild another team.

Actually, Fisher is a target. A complete pie in the sky, hey "how about we offer someone 7M plus and see if it sticks" kind of target, but one anyway. Woodward is going to have some major cash to throw around, which is probably not too smart
But we did give Sumlin that ridiculous contract, so I wouldn't put anything past our boosters and AD

Congrats on using illegal/artificial noisemakers to pump up the noise.
I'm sure you have a DJ and your band plays past the posing offenses snap too. Nothing to see here but fake noise folks.

Sumlin agent played A&M perfectly. Faked interest from USC that they NEVER had in Sumlin.
Ags panicked and gave him a huge contract. Funny how so many Ags that are supposedly "in the know" said USC was trying to hire him. NEVER the case at all.
We was duped and still paying for it.

A better football team.
A realistic fanbase.
Less stress.
Better quality of life for his family.
As for facilities, State needs to upgrade the locker rooms, which are in progress, but the rest of the facilities are in line with the best in the SEC. He has pretty much unlimited resources where he is. "history and prestige" doesn't win football games.
Too many of you folks make assumptions about what MSU has to offer without knowing what you are talking about.

Been to MSU. Facilities are very good. There is a lot of pressure at A&M for a variety of reasons.
I wouldn't leave Miss St for A&M at this point. Mullen has built something. If he leaves it will be an out of conference job. But... he ain't leaving after this year anyway.

I wouldn't leave MSU either, except for a premier job like ND or FL
Posted on 9/18/17 at 10:34 am to Farmer1906
Mullen won't leave for A&M.

100% his own doing. He can top it in short time with better recruiting.

A fanbase that knows its limits. Based on Mullen's desire to leave, I would guess he knows he's severely hampered by MSU.

No way to prove that. I would think leaving MS would improve quality of life.

Yeah, he clearly wants to leave. That's why he's been here for a decade

That's kind of the point. Great coaches want to coach in big-time environments. Mississippi State is not.

You really should go to more away games and walk around some, all the SEC schools have top notch facilities.

At least half the SEC and 20 others, you are starting to sound like a LSU fan.

Why did he interview for other jobs? Why was his name rumors at other schools yearly? He's just trying to find a nice landing spot.

Bama, UT, and a few others are in the same ballpark. MSU isn't.

Probably, but again not MSU.

Other than what they say? You are less able to prove your "assumption."
I know coaches say things all the time, but his wife and their families are very happy in Starkville. They have young children that go to school there and it's all they've known. They are a fixture in the community and genuinely enjoy it.
People who take "quality of life" shots at MSU and Starkville disqualify themselves from having intelligent conversation. I suggest you visit sometime.

M&W Nation is one of the worst State sites. He never interviewed for other jobs except for 2010 Miami. As Drebin said, these rumors are started by sites with Ole Miss writers and owners and people like Finebaum who make their living on silly rumors.
